Some shots of my field

I thought I'd share some of the pictures I've taken at my field. I hope you like them!

ps
Ken, I know you have a lot of experience shooting at events and such so any comments on how to improve these I'd appreciate. Thanks.

Plugin, great shots. The only improvement I could see is that you need to shoot about three times that many. :) All kidding aside, great photos.

thanks for sharing.

Thanks Don. I know I've got some non-plane shots such as the guardian dogs and stuff but I think it portrays our field's environment very well. Thanks for looking.

Thanx for sharing.

Those are good photos - nothing wrong with them. Your planes are in frame and in focus. There are a photo here and there where which I would not have taken so close up, but that comes down too personal preference (some instances some pics work better than others, but before taking them you don't always know which one will look better). Your photos are well taken.

May I ask which camera you used?

Korps, it's a Canon Rebel XSi. I've mainly used two lenses for these shots, a Canon 70-300mm and a Canon 28-80mm. Thanks for the comments.

Very good camera that.

Oh I forgot too comment on the photos taken of the people - where your focus point is the person and all the landscaping blurred out (not in focus). I loved them. I'm a fan pf such photos and like taking them myself. But you did a brilliant job. You should post more photos. Perhaps some of the landscape itself.

The blur behind the subject that you mention is commonly referred as bokeh in photo jargon. It largely depends on the aperture value you use to take the picture, the lens, and the distance to the subject. I won't go into much more detail here because it's not the right place but if you want to, send me a pm and I'll point you to some very good sites which explain this matter.

Plugin,

All in all some pretty good shots.
If you are interested in photography as another hobby Kodak has some pretty good books out.
Or it least they did when I got into the hobby.
You'll learn all kinds of things about blurring back grounds, depth of field, proper placement in a photo.
Good stuff and lots of fun. I used to compete with my photography years ago.

I am a little concerned about the pooch seeming to run free at the field.
We have a fellow who brings his dog and it is not a problem.
We all enjoy the dog. However, when someone is flying the dog is in his car.
Don't want him to get hurt.

Good Luck,
KW_Counter

I know what it is, just couldn't get too the correct term used, sorry. One of my hobbies are also taking photos. I'm more of a nature kind of guy when it comes too photos - capturing waterfalls, bushes etc etc.

But yeah I don't all there is too know, I'll perhaps ask you when I have doubt about something :D

I'd really enjoy something like that Mike. Maybe when I'm on a trip at the U.S we can meet strictly for some shooting as I highly doubt I'll be able to take one of my planes[:o]. Want to loan me one:eek:??

Hi plugin
Do you have any Engine Starting Safety Stands at your field? We have 10 and it sure makes the hobby easier and safer.

plugin 04-23-2009 05:29 PM

RE: Some shots of my field

Villa, we currently don't have any stands but those of us who have seen how clubs operate in the U.S are always trying to persuade the local field owner to get some. I hope this happens soon but fortunately we haven't had any serious injuries so far.
