Is this a good beginner plane???
 

I am looking at the E-flite Apperentice 5e. My nieghbor is really good at flying rc planes and he will help me too. I like it because when I am done with it I can take everything out and build my own plane like my nieghbor does. Is it also worth the money?

While I have no personal experience with that plane, it is intended as a trainer and therefor should be a good first plane.

Many of us keep our trainers after we solo and begin to get into the hobby. The reason we do is for a couple of reasons. First is of course, so you will have a second plane to fly in the event your other aircraft is out of commission for some reason. That might be while you are waiting for the battery pack from your other plane to charge, if you go electric. And, of course, for other reasons that I won't mention but I'm sure you can figure out.

If you remove all your electronics out of the trainer, well, you won't have that second plane to fly.

Another reason is that after a while, well, we often go back to our trainers and just fly for comfort and relaxation. Again, if you strip out your electronics for another plane, well, the trainer is grounded.

The plane is fine. But you may want to re-think and get a version that is not RTF and get it with all the listed components except that Spektrum 5e radio and get it with a different radio, such as the 6i or DX7. This will give you more flexibility in that you will have a full computer radio with model memory so you can use the same transmitter for a second, third, and so on, aircraft, only having to buy a receiver and servos rather than a whole completely new radio for the second plane.

I would recoommend that you think about what you may want to do in the future and buy accordingly.

My neighbor who is an expert on rc planes says that you can gut the plane and take the radio and the reciever and put in any other plane. and it will work fine

That plane flys quite well and is a fair trainer. The nose gear mounting is somewhat weak though and you will soon have to make repairs if your field is rough or you make a few not so gentle landings. It has excellent flying characteristics.
