begin air
 

I have a the begin air that i have flown about 8 times and now i can't get it to lift off. I've tried a new motor and a different battery but it still won't lift off. does anyone have any other suggestions?

Perhaps if you give some info on plane motor etc. we could help. I and probably no one else knows what a begin Air is. Where do you guys come up with these many oddball planes. There are hundreds of forums here that recommend what beginners should use???

The BeginAir is a 4-channel electric trainer from http://www.parkflyers.com and is actually a fairly well-known aircraft that has been on the market as an RTF for some time.

With RTF park flyer aircraft, I had the experience of running into cheap battery chargers that tended to "false peak" while charging the NiMH flight packs. One of my first planes was a Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenger that I affectionately nicknamed my "Aeroturd." I had the same problem where I would charge it up and it couldn't get out of its own way even though my charger said it was ready to go.

I bought the AC wall charger, and that fixed it up. I then only used the 12v car charger that came with it for "topping up" while on the way to go fly it.

My advice? Try some different battery chargers and see if you can't find something that tops up your battery a little better. RTF manufacturers have to cut corners somewhere, and the battery charger is usually one of them. A good battery charger is worth its weight in gold whether you mainly fly electric or if you fly gas/glow.

Thanks bigedmustafa, that has got to be the problem as everthing thing else checks out.As for that other guy I'm sorry you don't know the name of every plane out there.

Hey guys, take it easy on TedMo. I too have never heard of a "begin air". If reading the first post for the first time without any additional posts it cold also be taken for a mis-spelling of, or shortened version of "beginners airplane", especially with the name is not capitalized. With the plethora of new designs out there, and more coming out all the time I'd like to know who could keep up with all of them, but then I could probably rattle off a bunch of 30 - 60 year old designs that would have new flyers scratching their heads.......

Another thing to check is that the wing has not compressed slightly from the compression of the elastic bands and changed the angle of attack of the wing. Try a couple of popsicle sicks under the leading edge of the wing to increase the angle of attack a little and see if it hepls.

Be nice, TedMo. After all, this is a beginners forum. Not everyone has total knowledge about all of the model aircraft that are out there. I never heard of that one either, but that does not mean that it is not a worthwhile model to own and fly. If you want to help, try doing a google search on that plane and see what it is and perhaps offer something constructive.

As you can clearly see, others have found and provided information useful to both the original poster and to those of us that do not quite know what that particular plane may be.

Thanks everyone it is very helpful information. Andrewmc, I did leave the rubber bands on the wings for quit a while and maybe that has changed the angle of the wing but i'm not clear on how to attach the popsickle sticks as you said, any further advice would be greatly appreciated..
