Futaba 9CHP Rx and Tx

Dear All,

I currently own a Futaba 6EXHP. I am an intermediate flier on my 2nd and half plane (I bought a Tiger2 40 and then moved over to the Topstar 60 which is equivalent to Flip 3D. I am comfortable with both though I never got to a stage where I could fly the Tiger in my sleep as in the case of my Explorer-40 trainer)

I may be getting a good deal on a Futaba 9CHP with PLL module. Package includes servos, receiver, battery etc. It works on 35 or 40Mhz (I will require to select at purchase). Can someone tell me regarding the same (Mode II Throttle on LHS). How is this set and does it have any issues from the mfg side? Also, what is the "PLL Module"? Will this set take the 2.4 GHz FASST Upgrade Module?

The 9CHP will accept the 8ch futaba fasst module, and the Spektrum 8ch module also, I have the Spektrum in mine. I am very pleased with my 9CHP
after moving from the 7CAP. No issues that I am aware of, a few other pilots at my field use the 9c and have had excellent luck witn them. Make sure
you get an instruction manual or download from Futaba (much more programming than your 6EX (thankfully it's user friendly).

Are you saying this transmitter is Mode II? Mode II is how most of the US flies, throttle and rudder on the left, ailerons and elevator on the right side....If that is how you learned then its the same ...but if you learned to fly with another Mode...you're going to have a big problem...you'll almost have to learn to fly all over again

Dear Jetmech05,

as I wrote, the selection of Mode I or II is to be made at purchase. In my Request For Quotation, I have specified Mode II i.e. throttle and rudder on LHS just as with my 6EXHP.

Has anyone had any issues with this TX and RX (419DP dual conversion with crystal)? Also, any idea what PLL module means? This is a CHP and not CAP i.e. it is meant for helis however, I am told that the airplane mode can be enabled through the interface.

PLL or Phase Locked Loop is the synthesized module, meaning there's dials on the back to select any channel in the band your using, in our case theres 50 72mhz channels to choose from in North America.

Yes you can select ACRO or airplane mode in the interface, the other differences are that the throttle action is smooth, not ratcheted and the switch layout is slightly different. Its fine for airplane flying, thats what I use to fly many planes, in fact, I prefer flying 3D with the smooth throttle, the clicking, to me, is a nusance.

Its a great radio, you'll love it.

The TX will default to Heli mode but you can select airplane mode in the menu screens. Manual is available at http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/9c-su...ies-manual.pdf for your perusal.

Barracuda,
I definitely agree on the smooth throtlle 3d point. I found myself counting clicks on my7C, with the smooth throttle 9CH I just react to the plane.
This goes for landing and almost all other aerobatics, Makes you not think about adding a few clicks. I love this radio, and with the spektrum
module I don't see myself getting a new radio for quite a long time, unless it's a backup 9C.
