electric newb
i just got my pz corsair setup. i was wondering if its ok to leave the esc in that little pocket above the battery, or if it should be moved for more ventilation. also, i had to charge up a lipo to bind my dx6i to the ar6100, center all the servos, and set the throws. i dont plan to fly it until tomorrow morning, so should i discharge the battery or is it ok to leave it overnight?

RE: electric newb
im sure its fine to leave the esc where it is as long as the area doesnt heat up from the lipo. you definitly shouldnt discahrge your lipo. in fact charge it up again to full before you fly. you really never need to discharge lipos. they dont have "memory" like older nmh or ni cad batteries. if you run your plane for 1 minute and then charge it again it will do no damage to the battery. Also if you discahrge a lipo too far it will be permanty damaged so make sure if you do discharge your battery for some reason not to let the voltage get to low. hope this helps

ORIGINAL: maerlma thanks for advice. the charger i got has three charging modes: regular, balacing, and storage. the storage mode is what threw me off. lipo's are good batterys as long as you follow their rules. dont over charge or over discharge dont let them get to hot (try to draw 20c from a 15c pack) dont smash/puncture the lipo (if you do so take lipo out of plane, put on sidewalk, and wait for the fireworks show) ect. |
