What are you talking about. What type of plane and equipment do you have. Are you trying this for the first time or do you have some training or experience.

Yeah, just like the Tiger Moth and other park flyer type planes, you'll really appreciate flying the Slow Stick in very light wind, or preferrably dead calm. It's a fun little plane in the right conditions!

I fly my Slow Stik in winds all the time, 10-15 mph with very little problems, it will bounce around a bit , but hover is quite easy, just don't go down wind very far. Cutting the throttle is probibly the last thing to do to regain control in wind. It is much nicer to fly in calm weather.

midnite,
Sounds like it's just out of trim a little- specificly it needs some "down" trim in the elevator. Wait until it dead calm, and the try flying it. I think you will find you need to click the elevator trim forward a couple. It should maintain level non-climbing or desending flight at about 3/4 throttle when its right. Jetts |

i noticed the rudder isnt totally flat, it has a little cupping like it slightly concave.... how should i fix this? i was thinking about using dental floss from the tip of the rudder to the tip of the elevator.... |

Originally posted by DBCherry I assume you mean the vertical stab is concave, not the rudder. Is the stab foam on the Slow Stick? If so, you should be able to bend it slightly past flat and it should spring back to flat when released. |

I have a Slow Stick and it is fun even with a little wind. I don't know about 15 MPH though...I don't think the Slow Stick attains an airspeed of 15 MPH.
* Make sure you CG is set properly * Try trimming it out on a calm day and then reset your neutral positions. On a windy day you may need to fly at near full power to land. Then the trick is grabbing it before the wind flips it over and takes it to the next county! Fun plane for the money. I'm flying glow also, but there is definitely something cool about an airplane that can fly as slow you you can walk. |
