Which characteristic of the airplane attracts you?

RE: attract to you

The truth of the question being asked is, you'll never know until you fly the plane. Most people buy a new kit or arf due to it's style, if you love warbirds, aerobatic, funfly, 3D, speed, vintage, or whatever. Once it's built and flown, the design and flight charictaristics of it deem it a good or bad plane. I can't sum it up into one thing, like a wing shape or a type of plane, but I guess you could say anything with two wings draws me in, biplanes have this great presence in the air, don't know why, but that's why I'm a biplane junkie.;)

You never know 'till you fly it is right. When I started this hobby I thought pattern planes looked stupid, and wondered why someone would actually choose to fly such an odd looking plane.

I thought scale, high-wing planes looked really sharp. I flew one, then thought what I wanted was a scale, low wing, aerobatic plane.

In the end, nothing flies like a pattern plane, and to me that style of plane is an absolute joy to fly. I like flying my Yak; it looks great and sounds great, and flies pretty good, too. The more I fly it, the more I want to fly my Venus, and the more I fly my Venus the more I want a full-size (2 meter) pattern ship.

I like planes that look like the real thing, whether they be scale or just something that looks very similar. I hate the look of profile planes and prolly will never own one.Half the fun for me is how it looks in the air.

Maybe i should learn how to play, so that i can know why the airplane is so attracting.

Play once, with an instructor on a good trainer, and that will set the hook. After that, good luck trying to get away!

This is a tough question, when I first started all I wanted was a P-40 or P-51 after owning one and flying another they will likely never be something I really get into. I just do not like having to do so much work just to keep a plane from becoming toothpicks.from the ground loops to the blazing speed landings I have found that next to heli's true scale warbirds are the toughest flight out there.

I still love how they look but I want to have fun while flying and they just are not for me flight wise.
My favorite plane to fly out of all of them myself and my brother own is the Big Ugly Stik 60. From a flat spin, to inverted passes 3 foot over the runway so slow it is hanging in the air, it kind of does it all. I do not have to be great on the sticks to put on a great looking show, I just have to be high enough ;) Any design that makes me look like I know what I am doing is a great thing LOL

All that being said I live in Oklahoma, I look into every purchase and see what kind of comments the aircraft have gotten on handling wind. My stik can go up as long as it will set on the table.

depend on the mood. Do I feel like burning holes in the sky, do I feel like flyin like I stole it. Do I feel like flying so damn fast ya can'r see it. DO I wanna just sit in a chair and put-put around the sky.
Lately I've been on a history stint so I've gotten Hueght H-1 and another p-51. Also it's time to try a twin

So far, I need to practice more in play airplane so that i can know more about the function of the airplane.

My only point of view on this subject is; it certainly isn't just one thing. I like World War One airplanes, not all of them but as a group there is a larger percentage of them that I like then any other group. I also think scale sailplanes are neat as well as general aviation from the 20s to the 50s. As a general type, I like rag covered airplanes better the metal covered. I like Biplanes better the monoplanes and building, over assembling ARFs. When it comes to pure R/C airplanes, I like simple designs, where the engine is almost fully hanging out in the breeze, likeThe HOTS, the Flying Machine and the Stick types. I think any sport design that has a fully cowled engine is a waste of time and effort.

Your question will certainly show the diversenessof interests, between different R/Cers.It's natural that other people will have different opinions and that is one of the things that is great about the hobby, it fits the individual desires of those people who participate.

Helicopters with a nice scale body:D

Giant scale 3d gassers is also awesome:) I have very much respect for the guys who can make a total replica of the real thing. So I guess you can say that I like scale airplanes.

You really want to know what attracts me???

Oxai Pinnacle

Ithink it looks fantastic, but beyond that it is specifically engineered with precision flight as it's primary goal.
If I had to pick just one, this would be it.

You need a couple of those, gaRCfield! Get one with a YS DZ170 and another that is electric powered, that way you'll have something to fly if you forget to bring paper towls out to the field with you? :D

Iwas thinking more like the 170DZ cdi, with the spark ignition. Ibelieve it leaves a lot less 'stuff' on your plane. But yes, eventually (like when Iactually have some money in the bank) Iwould like to have an electric pattern plane. Talk about gracious...

That pinnacle is a great way to show difference between some of us pilots. While the airframe looks good, that is one of the ugliest covering schemes I have seen. Looks like an epileptic seizure waiting to happen. I in no way want to degrade others preferences, just pointing out differences. I'm sure some stuff I like is not good looking to others at all.

Pinnacle, Schminnacle. Planes are like women. I like them with a long, shapely fuselage, a great set of wings (Small or Large, I don't care), some nice landing gear, cutenose art and a great tail -and a lot of pep & energy. Not a bad idea if theycandance, or at leastroll over...

Big ones, small ones, in between, I wish I could fly two or three at a time. After a good long flight, ya gotta go towel off and get yourself back together.

Speaking of which, it's time to go fly!

I like any new plane(or new to me) I acquire. I really liked cubs, but for some reason mine always end up upside down at the end of the runway. still like um though. got into aerobatic planes, and got a few extras. I always enjoy flying them. someone gave me a P-51. after flying that I traded a low wing trainer for another P-51 (yet to be flown). just got a great planes ultimate bipe (kit form) so I'm looking forward to that build and maiden. and lately I've been bashing old foamies with "hot rod" motors just for fun. wow I guess I don't really have a preferance... as long as it flys :D

It is a good idea that you treat the planes as women, that means you really like playing planes and will treat them as well as you can, it sounds great.

Iagree, this is why I like warbirds, they look real. Ihave always wanted to be a pilot but cant talk the wife into letting me take out a loan for the real thing.
