Wing and Tail Covers/Totes
Does anyone know where I can find some wing & tail covers for my airplanes, during transit? I was looking at Wing Totes but, they only seem to have them for the main wing, not the tail/empenage. I'd like to have some professional quality stuff. Thought about going to Hobby Lobby buying fabric and sewing them, but by the time I do that, with foam in between I'm approaching the commercial price and lost time. Thanks for any suggestions.</p> |
RE: Wing and Tail Covers/Totes
They just did an article on this in Fly RC magazine (July 2009 issue). They said to start out using a roll of reflectix, and some duct tape. They state to cut the reflectix to the size of the wing x 2 and tape them together with the tape, leaving an opening to slide the wings in. You can make it a top load or an end load for the main wings. I am sure you could come up with something for the tail/empenage also. I am not sure if this is professional quality enough, but it sure is affordable.

Harbor Freight tools sells some inexpensive, thick, quilted moving blankets that work well for making wing bags.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitiely going to go look up that Fly R/C article. Still though, none of these fit the professional quality stuff I'm looking for. Any ideas? |

Hobby Pak makes some nice, inexpensive wing bags.
There is a company that makes some nice stab covers but I can't remember the name right now - Oh yeah, RCArmour.com http://www.rcarmour.com/Aerobatic%20Planes.htm |
