Building a G.P. Super Sporster 40 MKII I just test fitted the wing and have a large gap between the wing and fuselage. Do you think this will a problem or can I fix it with some foam wing tape?

Don't sweat it. There are a dozen ways to fix that.Saddle tape can be used, but can become compressed after several flights and allow the wing to move. You can use silicon caulking to fill the gap and then trim off the part that oozes out. One method is to mount the wing at the incedence you want, then take a pencil and trace the wing outline on the fuselage. Then sand parallel to that line at a constant distance from the line. I'm sure that you wil lhear several more methods. The important point is that its not hard to fix, keep going.

I understand the silicon caulking method but not the other? can't change the incedence because there are two pegs in the front and two bolts in the rear.

This doesn't relate to your question, but noticing the small dent on the fuselage (hangar rash I presume), you could try dabbing a drop or two of water on it. The water will cause the fibers to swell, and it usually does a good job of fixing small dents like this without resorting to filler.

However, PilotFighter's suggestion's are excellent ways to fix the issue. As he said, its not that big of a deal.

You can also wax paper your wing, mix up some resin and micro ballons into a thick mix, lay a layer of the goop on your wing saddle and then install the wing. Allow it to dry and sand to finish. Gaps be gone. Good Luck, Dave

I would go with this method if you have the micro balloons. Very easy fix. A good mix is 3 parts micro balloons to 1 part epoxy.

I would not even worry about the gap. If there are two pegs in the leading edge and one or two bolts holding the trailing edge to the fuselage and both wing tips are perpendicular to the ground when the wing is bolted up then it should not effect flight performance at all. If it bothers you then use the methods mentioned above.

Micro-ballons..I've heard of people using ......plain old white flour or fine sawdust.... as a substitute. Will that work? Rich
