RE: 2 stroke and 4 stroke fuel question
I just now took a closer look at my jug of Byron 30% Heli fuel. The 24% lube is all synthetic. Flies right in the face of Magnum's recommendations- they are goofy about insisting that you have some castor in there, and they keep repeating the mantra that castor will stand up to the high heat if you accidentally give the engine a lean run. Total baloney. Synthetic lubricants have boiling/flash points that are way above anything Ma nature ever came up with, and are vastly superior to natural petroleum lubes. All castor would do for my Maggie would be to gum up the Perry "shaker" pump during the off season. As it is, it's going on three years with no problems. I can't say that about the other Perry pumps I've had that had a castor blend run through them. Nothing but trouble.

RE: 2 stroke and 4 stroke fuel question
When Brian Winch first started writing The Oily Hand for RC Report magazine he wrote an artical about what nasty crap Castor Oil is and how it is a hold over from our bow tie and high button shoes era. My god, you would have thought he was running over puppy's and kitties on the evening news. The man needed body guards to say such things.
Then I looked into what he had to say and Ihad to agree with him. Just no reason for the stuff in modeling. Not sure if his old RCR email is still any good but if anyone wants to give it a try and ask him to post that little bit of dribble it may open up some minds or he may have to get the body guards again. [email protected] If nothing else he is a fun kinda guy to talk to.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif |
