RCM is correct, quite a long time ago.

Flying lawnmower
I have built three lawnmowers from the rcm plans, first one had a very short life the second one had a some what longer life span and the third one lasted over three years with minor injuries now and then. I sold it before it bit the dust.
I have a set of plans for the mower if you would like them, cost is about ten dollars plus shipping. By the way it is kind of labor intensive, just a warning. bob36 |

bob36,
Aren't most plans copywritten. If so is it legal for someone who didn't design the plan to sell without some type of permission. I'm just curious since I know someone with most of the tools neccessary to reproduce plans |

no copyright infringement if you sell the original plans... if you make copies that's another issue, the quesion is how much does it matter? you can blow up the plans that came on RCM, than make some technical changes to it and it can be called your own.
OHhhhh the Society:boxing:... Older guys correct me if I'm wrong...in the (g)olden days it was kind of an honor if somebody else used your design and your heart felt warmer... Nowadays everybody worries about copyrights and lawyers and such and how much $$$ can get out of something... so the wallet feels warmer and the heart shrinks... like the Grinch pirate: Regards, Patrick |
Copy right
Our plans are drawn up ourselves with CAD, and the instruction manual is the same, I looked at copyright law, and the just of it is that the design has to change 10% or more to not me the "Original". Have you noticed that the new RCM construction articles have "copyright printed across the plans...makes it a bit more obvious if you somply blow up the picture...
I agree with you about the older days....I contacted Toro, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Clipper, and a few other tractor companies, ans all declined my request to use their logo as part of the decal set for the Sky Cutter (Mower)....I couldn't believe it! I thought that they would appreciate the extra publicity. They all wanted me to pay royaties... what are we comming to??? |
