Flyzone Diablo
I'm considering getting the Flyzone Diablo as my first EDF jet. I will learn on it, and add the advanced wings and the dual fans later, when I'm comfortable with it. My queston is about the dual fan upgrade. Will Ibe running 3 fans when Iadd the dual set? And before anyone asks, this will be my second plane. I've flown a Yellow Bee for about a year. I've been playing with FMS also, and I feel I'm ready to move up in the world. Thanks in advance.</p> |
RE: Flyzone Diablo
The Diablo is great in the beginner configuration, but It lacks in power when upgraded. To really get anything out of the upgrade, you'll need to upgrade the upgrade to brushless motors

Haven't ever heard anything food about the FZ diablo. Like all FZ products, too heavy and underpowered!

RE: Flyzone Diablo
I just got mine in the mail last night - what a disappointment! i would have thought that after 3+ years on the market - they would have fixed some of the reported problems from 2007! nope. if at all i think it has actually gotten worse.
heres what i encountered 1. both wing tips are broken, not completely off but 99% the way there. Granted its repairable, but I prefer to repair only what I have broken. Tower Hobbies is mailing out free replacements. 2. the rear tail fin has a notch in it, seems to be cause by the cardboard that the trainer wings were taped to. could have been prevented by mounting that cardboard forward 1 inch and held in place with some tape. This I don't know how to fix or if I have to for the plane to fly correctly. 3. the rear aileron has a sign of impact damage on the very rear and the right corner has some odd sign of warpage from impact? its hard to describe, but might alter the flight path of the model. 4. upon inspection, the servo leads were not plugged in correctly into the receiver, only the rudder would respond. After switching the plugs around, I got the aileron to work. 5. The esc is not responding, only blinking light, I'm going to blame this on a battery pack not being fully charged. Will test again tonight. 6. I used my duratrax ICE in motor break in mode to break in the motor prior to flying the plane. I followed the instructions of 1/4 throttle, 1/2 throttle and so on. I did these in 60 second bursts. At 3 volts, everything seemed fine, motor ran good. little glitching but marked that up to the break in process. Same result at 4, 5 and 6 volts - glitching was going down at this point. At 8 volts (max for my charger) the turbine seemed to be out of balance, almost wobbling, making slight impact with the surround of the turbine. it was shut down after 4 seconds at the 8 volt setting. I will test in the plane with the 11.1 volt lipo to see what happens. if the motor is out of balance - it is going back. in fact - i might just return it due to a overall bad design.. i can accept 1 problem .. but 6? seriously.... look to another supplier. in this case - you get what you pay for. |
