4 blade prop??
I am building a coro spitfire and want to use a Super Tigre 61 size engine in it.
I am thinking about using a four blade prop on the engine and am wondering what the pros an cons of a four blade prop are compared to a two blade prop? Thanks, Troy. |
4 blade prop??
Given the size of our small props, 2 bladed props are far more efficient. With more than 2 blades, each blade is in the wake of the preceeding blade. They make a lot more noise and look cool but save it for the static display.

Okay what about a three bladed prop then? Would this perhaps still look good, without losing too much power?

4 blade prop??
For efficiency and performance the single bladed prop is the best but that comes with a lot of problems and thats why the two blader is almost universal on our aircraft. three and four bladed props get progressively less effective and you have to sacrifice diameter and or pitch to maintain any kind of performance.
There is only one thing dumber looking on a nice scale model that had multi blade props with a two blade one and that is a tiny ridiculous lookin three or four blade in a vain attempt to look scale. Much better off making a static prop for display full scale and looks awesome and can be spun on and off. |

okay,
Thanks for the advice John. |

:D Got me Dennis I failed to notice the "coro" in front of Spitfire. Come to think of it, probably all the more reason to use a long flat efficient two blader to get all that Plastic airborn.

Guys, guys, guys. when will you realise plastic flies just as well as bbbbb Balsa :) one thing i will admit, why spend $30 on a nice 4 blade prop when the whole plane only cost $10 |
4 blade prop??
AWW Woodsy, Have a heart I actually have a Spad well hidden in the hanger but please keep that under wraps will Ya!

4 blade prop??
SPADs fly very well but I just don't think they out perform any of my balsa planes. Each has it's strong attributes. I'll say this, my Debonair flies great in the wind because it's heavier than the balsa planes.
