Soloed today!
I was cut loose on Friday by my instructor at www.pmac.us So this morning took my solo card to the field and put it in the transmitter box. Took a deep breath,pre- flight checked everything, fueled up, range checked, fired up my Extra Easy 2, made final adjustments on the engine and took her out to the runway. Taxied down, got her in position, full throttle, slight up elevator, a little right rudder to keep her straight and up and away she went! It was picture perfect. Did some minor trim adjustments while flying the pattern and then after a few go rounds brought her in for a sweet landing, nice and level, smooth flares all the way to touch down, with no bounce! Wiped my brow off and did it about eight to ten more times ( I know, after the first flight, stop and go home so as not to jinx yourself with the rc-gods), but it was way too much fun. I want to thank everyone at RCU especially Bill Beardsley, my first teacher Dave Scott at 1st rcflight school in Wisconsin ( this past May), and, Dave Stephens, my mentor at the club , for smoothing out my flying and his great enthusiasm.

What a feeling!
Congratulations, MSP, great feeling huh?
Keep up the good work, don't slack off. Remember, the next plane will be all different. But for now, wring that plane out until you know it backwards & forwards, can do anything with it, and can get out of any kind of trouble with it. Your adventure is just beginning! Good luck, Dave Olson |

Mega congrats!! And welcome from another recent soloist, (Feb '03).
Next step hint: Stay away from Tower Hobbies' web page, and E-bay. You're right, damn lot of fun. Great people to chat with at any field. I've made new friends and they all continue to teach me. Enjoy, Welcome, and once again Congratulations. |

Just wait till you get the "attaboy" certificate.

Great Job Michael!!! :D
Welcome to the obsession. Dave's a good guy. It's nice to have a club to fly at with trainer night every week. Bill (PMAC) |

( I know, after the first flight, stop and go home so as not to jinx yourself with the rc-gods), Never be concerned about more than one flight, but never even THINK "just one more". Because just one more is all you'll get. That's tempting the RC gods to reek havoc on your stuff. Dennis- |
Red Wing
Hi Bill
Please introduce yourself at the field. I will be there tomorrow night (you are right about it being an obsession!) and hopefully Friday. I have to work this weekend :( Michael |
Soloed today!
Hi Michael,
I sure will. I have been absent lately. Been busy coaching baseball. My son wants to start training, he is 8. So I got my trainer ready and we will see if he has the attention span. He flys the sim real good. I think he lands better than me. :D Take care Bill |
Re-solo
After about a 20 year layoff I'm back in to planes, by way of... Well, long story.. Bought an Alpha (RTF) took it to a local club field, had someone check it out, get it flying. I was able to "re-solo Sunday afternoon....
Not all good though... After about 4 tanks, wing pulled apart and resulting in a rather "unique" landing.. No real damage was close to the ground, very slow.. Broken prop, small crack in fuselage. All fixed, ready to go again!!! :D |
Soloed today!
Congrats on the solo. Way to go!!!! :D :D

Thanks for the attaboy, will get it framed. Cruz, I use to see your postings at the electric site, you still flying electric or just that Sig 4*60 with the TT four stroke ( I have been following Sig 4*60 threads, saw your postings, will be my next plane). Will be going out tonight in about a hour, I can not wait. Thanks everyone!

Yup, still flying electrics. I have too many to put them all down. Lately, the wind has been blowing a bit too hard to take them up though, so the 4* has received most of the flight time. Usually, what I do is take up one of my eflyers first to serve kinda as a 'warm up'. Then I'll move on over the the big boy 4*. I may sell off a couple of my eflyers,,haven't decided yet. One guy I fly with told me I'll do away with eflight and only fly glow. "Nah,,," I told him, "prolly not" :D
