CG Freedom 20 Help

Hello,

I am preparing to start building a CG Freedom 20 kit and I had a question on engine size. I purchased this kit here on RCU and it included an OS LA .40. I am concerned that this may be too much engine for this plane. It has a 55 1/2 inch span and a wing area of 440 sq in., and a weight of 3.75 lbs.

Is the 40 to much, should I be looking for a 25 or 30 size motor? Is there enough ground clearance to handle a 10x6 prop?

I would like to use the 40 to help counter the wind and elevation we have here. But I wanted to hear from people who may have experience with this plane.

Thank you,

Sean Moore

Well, the OS .40LA is really only slightly more powerful than the stronger BB .25 engines out there. So, no, it wouldn't be too much engine. Weither it would be too much weight in the nose is a different story, and I don't have a good answer for you on that.

Thank you for your answer. I will have to look into it some more.
