What is your experience flying model airplanes?
What do you expect from those models?

RE: My choice for first plane

they are both on the same lvl of foaimie glider so you can't expect much from them, they fly. Either way get some help with it if you can. Train on your first model, break your second one.

RE: My choice for first plane

I have a vast experience on flying itself, but never tried RC, only in some simulators... With the electronics of a 3CH plane is it possible for me to make a "4channel" DELTA WING plane? Coz that's waht I was thinking about doing later...

Instead of either of those, check out this one, ( available from the same vendor )....

View ALL of the videos he has on the site.

He has some about hop-ups, adding channels, etc... worth the watch....

I'm checking right now...
Do you guys know a site that I can get a cheaper shipping cost? Because that'll double the price of the plane, so I'm paying like 150$ for that :O

RE: My choice for first plane

You may be able to find a more local vendor for the WildHawk as it is carried by many.

Well, I live in brazil and things like that always costs like 400% more than you'd pay for... If you know any stores at South America, that'd be good... I'm searching for it, but not even near finding :(

RE: My choice for first plane

I have no personal experiance with Nitro planes.  But I have read alot of threads in these forums that say they are not good planes.  Made in China very cheaply.  Because of what I have read here in RCU I would not buy one.  Sorry to hear it cost so much in Brazil.

Hey Sheeb,   tell us what it is like in Brazil.  Do you live in a major city?  Are there flying clubs near you?  What is the RC community like down there.

Sheeb 07-08-2009 05:52 PM

RE: My choice for first plane

Sorry for posting again but, at that site, what RTF model do u recommend that gets close to the Wild Hawk or the sail planes I was mencioning before?

Go to this website
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~atong/

You will get an enormous amount of info about RC.  Take your time and learn as much as possible before spending your money.

Well, I know a club that is far from here, but I do know a couple of persons that fly...I hope to meet more ppl as soon as I start flying too...
I live in the capital of SC, wich is a major city, but it's not overpopulated like São Paulo or Rio, and it has lots of beauty... It's cool to live here, you got a little bit of everything :D
Take a look at Google, I live in Florianópolis... Good places to look are the view from Beira Mar Norte and Beira Mar Shopping... There are also some cool beaches, but I've been living here for only one year, and my old city is like just one hour, we just go back there to enjoy the beach :D

RE: My choice for first plane

When I was younger I went to a major event at that RC Club... There was a nice performance of Brasil's Airplane Stunts major team, esquadrilha da fumaça, and then we had some pros demonstrating some nice skills with RC jets and nice aerobatic planes... Then tere was some RC Offroad racing with some buggies and some freerun on trucks... I've been saving some money, and I'll be buying a plane this month...
I always wanted a jet, and I'm always looking at the new EDF's, but they're just too mcuh for me, I'd end up flying them for some seconds and then crashing it, I think ;p
So, way to go, Imma buy myself a 3ch trainer, then after I feel I really like the hobby and when I feel ready for some more action, I may buy one cool EDF :D
That's the plan

RE: My choice for first plane

In the Tower Hobbies site click on where it says Shop Radio Control.  Then click  Airplanes.  Then under RC Airplane kits click Sailplanes.  You should see something you like there.

I alway recommend real trainer, yea they cost more. It sounds like your stuck on electrics so.
[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSGY1**&P=0]hobbieco electric trainer[/link]

Also I keep forgetting about horizon hobby. they have more in the way of main stream foamy electrics

I've seen several guys learn to fly on the aerobird.

[link=http://searchrc.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?N=0&Ntt=aerobird&S=HH%20RC&sid=1225C9AE1 A4C]aerobird[/link] They are cheap and parts are available. you don't seem to mind no ailerons so it would work very well for you

RE: My choice for first plane

Good plan.  http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXFF90&P=0   Check out this plane.  It is a good first plane.  Stay away from the fast jets for a long time.  It takes a very experiance pilot to fly the fast planes.   I still like the big and slow models.

Sheeb 07-08-2009 06:09 PM

RE: My choice for first plane

Hey, wait a minute... I do like ailerons, but the planes I posted before seem to fly pretty well without them... Adn they fit into my wallet :D

I've flow the [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HBZ3600]aerobird[/link]
if your going it alone its a good start

RE: My choice for first plane

I am getting the feel of these slow planes and it seems great.. But I have a big, big roadblock in front of me...
I can only spend like 150$ (shipping included), wich makes it almost impossible to get a plane...
That's why I was currently looking at nitroplanes, I heard their prices were good...
The first planes I posted, and the Wild Hawk would be good, in fact I'm still with them I think ._. (But I do thank you for all the help)
I'm just looking around, making a good research, getting some help... I think I can get better than that
