Click on the link in my signature for some great beginner info. The site is based mostly on Nitro, but it will give you a great place to start

the electric/nitro part is easy to answer.....when you imagine of yourself flying a nice airplane all alone......how is it powered? start with that kind of engine
find yourself a nice club with an instructor, the rest will soon be taken care of

Generally, glow powered planes are cheaper, even with fuel costs. 200 pounds still isn't alot to work with though. You might check with your local club to see if they have any free training. That can get you connected with guys selling beginner equipment as they upgrade. There may be some local swap meets that they'll know about as well.

Since your location is listed as in the UK, you should check out the British Model Flying Association. This link is to a page that describes some of the legal constraints on model flying in the UK http://www.bmfa.org/ANO/index.html
There are also lots of informational links to make it easier to find local flyers who can help you get started.
