I have a plane that I'm pretty sure is covered in ultrakote and I need to patch a hole in the wing. All I have is monokote, Can I use monokote over the ultrakote? I know monokote takes more heat to work. Or do I just need to tape it tell I get some ultrakote? The hole is big enough I want to cover it but not to big to tape.

You can stick the Monokote on with regular Windex. Don't try to use heat, because you'll be shrinking the Ultracote while trying to stick the Monokote. Just spray the Windex on the Monokote patch and get it positioned right, then leave it overnight.

I'm pretty sure you can patch the hole with monocote, I think I read somewhere you can but I wont swear to it. I'd wait till one of the guys with more experiece chimes in.

Yes, you can use the Monokote. The main drawback will be mis-matched colors.

I'd first clean the area to be patched very, very well with denatured alcohol or similar. Then cut the monokote patch, spray the area surrounding the hole with Windex (old school stuff with ammonia) then carefully lay down the patch. Let it dry overnight then seal down the edges with an iron. finally use the iron or heat gun to shrink it. Yes, they two coverings shrink at different temperatures but it can still be done if you "sneak up" on the temp and don't make it any hotter than necessary. I know because I've done it.

Another option is tape like you mentioned or find a nice decal or sticker.
