Servo Repair.
 

I just got a Precision Aerobatics addiction, upon inspecting it for flight i noticed that one of the screws for the elevator servo had been pulled out. The wood below it doesn't look damaged. I have heard that i should use wood glue when re-screwing servo screws. My question is should i fill the hole with glue and let it cure then rescrew it, or should i put in the glue and go ahead and rescrew it to let everything harden together? Thanks for your input and any other techniques will be greatly appreciated.

I would use epoxy or ca but DO NOT add glue then screw in when wet. You will have a job getting it out again.

A drop of runny epoxy in each screw hole = let it set and fit the servo. You should be able to tell if the screws are biting.

another old trick is to stick a toothpick in the hole, cut it off even at the surface, ca it in, then you can redrill the hole

Provided the hole is not too enlarged, put a few drops of CA into the hole and allow an hour for the glue to completely dry. The screw should now firmly thread back into the wood.

Let the CA dry??? OOPS!!!!:D I use medium CA or the tooth pick trick. Just depends on how bad the hole is.
Another old trick is to open the hole up a little then glue in a piece of nyrod. You can remove and replace the screw hundreds of times without the threads ever getting loose.

All you need do is to put a light coat of oil on the screw, fill the hole with epoxy, let it set up and fly. The screw will come out when needed as it has an oil coat on it. Good Luck, Dave
