Quick Fuel Question

Hey everyone.. just a quick question.. can I use Blue Thunder Sport 10 Percent "car fuel" for my planes? Thanks

RE: Quick Fuel Question

Probably not. What matters is the oil content, and cars don't usually use the same oil content as planes.

If it has at least 18% oil then you should be OK.

RE: Quick Fuel Question

Check the oil content. Most RC fuels are pretty much 20% but some are not. If it is, then you can use it. If not, you can get some castor or blend and add it to the fuel to make it compatible.

RE: Quick Fuel Question

that depends on the engine tho doesnt it?? wouldnt that be to much oil for a .049 cox motor?

RE: Quick Fuel Question

Well, I dunno.

The OP never said what engine he was talking about. This is an RC beginners forum, so we must assume that he is using an RC engine, not an .049.

RE: Quick Fuel Question

hey everyone ya just regular .61 and .46 engines... not a beginner though haha, Umm yea the oil content is 10 percent.. how much would i add to a quart of fuel to make it work? is that the only thing that would make it not work and hurt my engines

RE: Quick Fuel Question

If oil content is 10% then work the math for the volume you have and add enough castor or blend to make it up to 20%. Or, just put it aside and use it on your cars or trucks and get 20% aircraft fuel.

RE: Quick Fuel Question

Add 3 oz. of oil per quart. This will bring you up to 17.7% oil which is fine for RC engines ABC, ABN or ring types. The reason the cars can run lower oil is their very high rpm, and fuel flow, with low engine torque on the rod.
