A speed prop is more efficient and has less drag than a slow fly prop.

A speed prop is not efficient until it is running in the speed range it was designed for. It will never reach it's top efficiency on a plane with too much weight and drag. The best, and really the only true speed props are made from carbon fiber. This allows for the thinnest blades possible. In most common model sizes, 8x8, 9x8, 9x9, 10x8, 10x9, 11x7, etc. will show a dramatic speed improvement if matched to the right sized and lowest drag models. The idea is to run the least amount of diameter and highest amount of pitch that the engine and airframe as a unit will allow. Having a way to measure speed is almost mandatory to be able to evaluate prop changes

APC has a nice selection. Then there is Steve Wilk at Eliminator, you have Supercool props, Mike Hazel is at ZZ Prop, and possibly a few more listed at the North American Speed Society [NASS}.
Don't over look the thin, high aspect ratio blade series that Master Airscrew has now. They work really well on smaller engines on a clean ship.
