Another Next Plane question.
 

I have a delima fellas. I recently built a 4*60 and have been flying it for the last four weeks. I'm running a Saito 100 with 30% heli fuel and a MAS K series 15x6 prop. My bad on the build. Besides weighing over 9 pounds, I covered it with Mono metallic Blue and white. The way the sky looked yesterday, I just couldn't see the plane and lost it 3 times on the first flight and all within a few minutes. When I was able to finally find it, I brought her in and took her home. For safetys sake, I have no plans on flying it again.

It's not that I can't handle the plane, I find it easier to fly than my LT-40. Normally on a cloudy day, I can grease every landing and do the rolls etc. I just couldn't see the plane yesterday and with with the way the sky was, neither could my way more experianced bud who flew it.

Of course, I could strip the covering and re-cover the 4* 60 in yellow or something easy to see. I really don't see that as an option though. Then there is allways the option of a 4* 60 ARF that can handle a Saito 100, but, sorta ugly with one color.

While eyeballing for 60 size ARFs that can handle a Saito 100, the H9 Pulse XT 60 seems to pop up a little bit. For yall that have flown both the 4* 60 and the H9 Pulse XT 60, whats the difference? Can a new guy on his second plane handle an XT 60?

Or, do yall have another suggestion for a plane for a Saito 100? Preferbly an ARF and mild.

I have a Goldberg Skylark 70 and it truly is a very nice flyer. The pattern guru in our club loves it... although I don't know if it comes as a kit, but it does as an ARF.

My second plane was the Pulse 40. I have two friends with the 60. Both sizes fly very well, but can be a little hot on approach. The Pulse is a good second plane in my opinion.

How hot? Next week Ill be flying Big Stik 40 that I haven't flow yet. If I can handle that, should the Pulse XT 60 be ok?

You have a few good options. It probably boils down to what you like looking at the best and what you can get a good deal on.

If you've already flown a Four-Star 60, then the Pulse XT 60 shouldn't be a problem.

I would echo what NorfolkSouthern says, and just figure out a way to add some contrasting color to the wings and tail to make it easier to see. I just use the "Dark on the bottom, Light on the top" kind of color pattern. It works for me. Heavy stripe on the bottom would seem to work also. The 4 star is an excellent flying plane. The only thing I would lose is the expensive 30% fuel and go to 10 or 15. I use that in all my 4 strokes, Saitos and Magnums, and all my 2 strokes. I have the 100 in my Top Flite P-47, and it flies beautifully. Your 4 star should have unlimited vertical.

You're running a Saito 100 on 30% Nitro with a .60 size model? No wonder you can't see it for orientation. It's gone too fast. Maybe fly it with a .60 using 10% Nitro and fly it closer and slower? Nah.

Stay away from anything with large control surfaces as you'll likely get flutter and tear up the airframe in flight. Obviously you want speed. How about a big Lanier Shrike or a BUSA Enforcer?

I agree with CharlieP, you really dont need to use 30% nitro,especially on this type of airframe.
Have flown both the Pulse and the 4 Stars in both the .40 and .60 size. I could`nt tell a lot of difference between the two. The 4 Stars seem to float a little more on landings but outside of that ,they flew a lot a like. The 4 Stars are a much tougher plane.
As far as hot landings, I could float both airframes in for 3 point landings, with the Pulse having less of a balloning affect ..
I recommend adding wide stripes on the bottom wing and maybe big circles on the top side, also add neon green or some bright color to the leading edge helps with landings. You can pick out different shapes better,than colors at a distance.
I think you would be ahead to add some diferent shapes to your 4 Star and save your money for maybe your 3rd plane. The Pulse is rather spendy after Horizon price hikes.

Thanks guys. Ill give 10% nitro a try and I think I have enough white monokote left over for a big stripe on the wings or something. I really like the looks of the Pulse XT 60, but the price seems just too high.
