First time solo
Saturday was my first time to fly by myself. I have been to the field about three times and was starting to get frustrated that everytime I hade time to fly there was no one at the field. When I went to the field this time there was just one person there and he said the only way you learn is by doing. He told me if I could take the plane off, he would land it. I felt good about flying but from all the bad things i have heard about landing I thought it would be way to hard. So I took the plane up(LT-40) and did some fly-by practices and then he talked me through the landing. What a rush to bring it in for the first time. That day I did three more flights by myself. It rained the next day so I am dying to get back out to the field. That was the best. I knew everyone here would understand the excitement. :)

Good for you and keep practicing!
I always recommend practicing the approach down to about 5-10 feet, then go around. Once you can make good approaches, the landing will be easy. Doing it this way saves a lot of wear and tear on the plane. The better you get, the lower you can go before you go around. Tom |
