Nexstar Plans?

Hello,

Well my nexstar kicked the bucket when I allowed it to be a training tool for others. SO the wing has some damage to it and the fuselage is crushed to the back the wing area. I want to try fixing this for the learning process. But how do i go about it. Are there plans to follow. I have never built anything plane related...only arf's. I would love stencils or drawings that shows what things should look like or what pices of wood to use.

Unfortunately with ARF's and RTF's there are no plans or stencills. Concider the project a puzzel and try to fit the peices back together. If your missing a piece of the puzzel or one is to far damaged you will have to make it yourself. Just remember you will have to reinforce areas. So do not be afraid to add material where there was none before.

63$ isn't bad for a replacement http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGAK3&P=Z

I did the same thing when I crashed mine, got the complete ARF for about 100$ with the discount, but ended up fixing the dammaged fuse and selling the replacement a couple years later.

if this helps I stripped my fuse and did a complete rehab on it before turning it into a float plane, here is a couple of photos with the covering off.

if your going to rebuild try to piece the broken area back together and use it as a template if at all possable, I eneded up piecing the parts toogether and was able to rebuild it that way, the ply sides were dammaged but not totally destroyed, just peeled back like a bannana off the formers

Do you have any photos of the damage?

You'd be surprised how well things can be fixed sometimes.

Justin,
One suggestion, be sure the fuse is dead-on straight. I had made so many repairs to my NexSTAR, during training, that somewhere along the way is got a bit crooked.

I have since completely stripped the fuse, made all the appropriate repairs, water-proofed completely inside and out, covered with 1/2 oz glass and Minwax PolyCrylic. I'll be painting soon, just need to decide on a paint scheme. This will eventually be a float plane. BTW, the wing has already had the dihedral removed, almost all of it.

Good luck with yours,
EJ
