Lost a toggle switch on my futaba 7c
 

just noticed that I have lost the toggle switch (H) on my Futaba 7C tx. Any ideas where I might get one.

Other than sending it in to a service center, no.

One thing to be careful of though, sometimes when a switch breaks off, it also damages stuff inside, and you get intermitent contact, which can cause that channel or function to change "on it's own". If you keep using the TX with out getting that swtich fixed, be sure to disable anything that might use that switch. And frankly, I wouldn't suggest using the TX at all until you get it fixed.

If you are used to being inside radio equipment...then try and order the switch from a service center or Radio south.....if not send it in for repair

Gene, did it break off or just fall off?? I would give Tony a call at Radio South but not sent it in for service until winter if it's still working OK for you. My radio had problems of my own making and I was grounded all summer, I messed it up three times and it takes about a month for turn around time. Figure a week to ship, 10 days for repair and another week to ship back to you.

I agree with Gray Beard. The thing to determine here is if it being broke off affects the functions of the radio. These switch arms are fragile and do get broken off in the everyday handling of radios from time to time.

If the radio is working, and you can live without the function that the switch controlled, then wait till the flying season closes down and then send the radio in to get it replaced. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron you might be able to replace it yourself. Check around with your club and see if anybody has a similar radio they are parting out. Most guys that have been in the hobby keep older non-functioning items for parts. You might find somebody you can get a switch from and then solder it in yourself. You could also call Tony at Radio South and order a switch from him. It's an easy repair if you are comfortable with a soldering iron and you're careful opening up the radio. If you're not comfortable with the iron or opening the radio then you should send it in.

the switch just came loose and the arm fell off. I do not use that switch anyways. I will send it in at the end of the season. Still have lots of flying to do until then. I think I can solder OK but why take a chance.

I am one of those guys that loves to tinker on stuff and have made this repair a few times. The first was on a used radio I bought and the others were for freinds. It takes longer to open up the radio and get the switch out than it does to do the soldering. I tipically will strip the switches off of an old radio that I have deamed as trash before pitching it just for this reason.

By the way if the switch just came loose, the arm and switch assembly may have fallen inside the radio. If that is the case then all you need is the little screw on collar. Let me know and I can send you one. I'll even cover the $.42 for the stamp;)

If the transmitter is still within the warranty period, and the transmitter has not sustained any blows that could have knocked-off the switch, the warranty should cover a failed switch. Send it in for consideration under the warranty.

If you are comfortable soldering DigiKey.com is likely to have an exact match.

Broken switches are trivially easy to replace if you are used to doing electrical work.

It took me all of 20 minutes to replace two DPDT switches on my JR 10 channel radio last week.

Solder the replacements to the wiring BEFORE re-installing them back in the case.

If your radio is still in warranty however, avoid doing so.

I'm sure it is still in warrant, but I can't find my sales receipt. Just like a guy, huh!!!! My wife as sales receipt from years ago and when I walk out of the store mine is gone.:eek::eek:

This is the switch that toggles and it is used only for the buddy box. I use my other 7C for the master and have been using this one for the slave. However I do have 5 or 6 planes that I have programmed on this TX for my use. Again, I don't use that switch.

best thing would be to inhibit the switch in the menu

This is a very good thing to do. I broke the trainer switch in a 7UAFS some time back and didn't think much of it and kept flying it. One day it went into "Buddy" mode all by itself and I lost a plane. Later verified condition on the ground so I know this is what happened. DON"T fly with damaged switches, at least not that one.[:@] You should be OK inhibited though. Couldn't do that on a 7UAFS.
