For all you south westerners. The green stuff in known as grass, looks good. but you have to constantly attend to it. Mowing, sweeping. It gets up inside the wheel pants, and of course you don't notice the grass in the pants until after you take the plane out of the car or truck when you get home and it's everywhere but still in the wheel pants. It also turns the tips of your props green. The other bad part it that while it stays green through the winter months, it occasionally will get a God aweful coating of white on top if it! Which then instead of mowing you have to use this thing called of shovel or a plow!

HA!! well it cost money. Some guy by the name of John Deere invented it. I guess he figured that people needed a grean mower to blend in with the stuff called grass! He's probably the guy that made it fashionable to mow the stuff! He also invented plow attachements for the device, for the aweful white stuff that just seems to show up out of nowhere!
Also love the additon to your signature! HA!

Don,t know much about grass or mowing but do understand dragging an rolling with our trucks on our hand dragged thousand foot runway close to a hundred and fifty foot wide in places and it was no dry lake bed.

Have had a taste of the white stuff though[8D]

Bottom left corner of the reply box, it should read "click here to upload images and files" Then it will go to a box that ask where you would like to upload the images from (which is whatever file you have them saved to on your computer. You won't see them in your message, until after you post the message

RE: pic from the field

When you upload inages to RCU, the server is supposed to resize them to 640 X 480 or thereabouts. But the image server crashes or locks up sometimes and the picture will be full size which is sometimes very big. Frustrating to me but nothing I can do about it. Once the image is big, it is that way even after the server is rebooted.

With the WYSIWYG editor you can copy and paste pictures also. These transfer at what ever size you copied.

I am not sure if you mean W8's post or my post #12. All my pictures are sized for reasonable posting and I have posted lots of pics here no problem but on occassion such as last night my Post #12 came out like that for no apparent reason. I noticed this also happened to W8's picture several posts later.

Its a pain of course because for many of us using tighter screen resolutions its impossible to read the thread without scrolling back and forth.

This morning I went back and deleted my pictures in that post and reattached them. Everything came out as it should.

Ok, I jumped off for a while and come back and yours are back to normal John. But W8eye's post #15 is still HUGE! I was just curious, thought maybe there was another trick I hadn't learned yet!:D

The hugness is a fault of RCU. It is nothing that w8ye did any different.

I think it was Ken or Mike that posted and let us know it is a problem with server #4 but to know what server you are on at any given time you have to go into the magazine and look at the bottom left of the page and it will tell you. When I get the giant photo hit my photos would fill in a big screen tv.

Here's a few pics from our field - we have have the best of both worlds - the green and the white stuff LOL!

Am I THE ONLY person that actually loves the winter and gets excited when they announce a blizzard? :D

I think it has come with age that I dislike the snow anymore! I own my home in Wyoming and love the summers here but the winters are so very long here! So not really do I like being in it anymore! looks cold standing in it! And Steamboat Springs have been there a few times, I use to race full scale cars in Hayden Colorado! Bob

This is how we do it in Minnesota. When the summer comes, there is no green under this snow.
BTW, the second guy from the right in the first pic is MinnFlyer.

wow i must be really lucky, i get green stuff, white stuff, brown/tan stuff and black stuff
if your good at landing you will hit the green stuff that needs mowed most of the time,
if its summer and you miss the runway your plane will be saved by this amazing green stuff known as soybean, or a similir plane saving device known as wheat
if you really miss the runway your plane will be lost in this sea of greenstuff known as corn which is not fun trudging around in, however the plane will be just fine.

if its winter and you miss the runway the plane will be damaged and covered in this black stuff known as dirt or soil.

if that white stuff is on the ground its time to breakout the snowboard and not the planes.
i included pictures incase you dont know what corn, soybean ,wheat and dirt look like :D:D:D
that is not my plane in the first pic btw,
