Parkzone Typhoon II 3d for beginner
 

I am looking to trade a truck for a plane and a friend hasa Parkzone Typhoon II that he wants to trade. If Ispend all winter on a sim, do you think it will be real tough to fly this thing next spring?

It's not a beginners plane. If you do decide to go with it, keep the TX on low rates until you're comfortable. It is a 3 d planes and very capable and fast! quick to respond to stick commands. Good part is that it's a foamy. I flew mine as a beginner and learned aloot about flying with it. But the only reason I flew as a beginner is because I won it in a drawing. Figured if I crashed it then I wouldn't be out any money. And crash it I did!! ALOT!!! but you can put it back together with a hot glue gun or clear package tape and have it back in the air in 10 minutes or less. With the 1800 lipo that comes with it, expect about 8 - 10 minutes of flight time. The motor in the typhoon has a gear box type drive. That is the only problem I have had with the plane, the gear shaft on the motor broke, not from the crashes, it simply just broke in half. 39.00 to replace. The sim will help alot, but if you're like me you won't wait till spring to fly it. Having said all this, there is no subsitute for a good flight instructor at the field. It's a fun plane to fly, capable for doing all the 3d manuevers.

The Typhoon 3D is a fun plane. A blast to fly.

The motors tend to go very quickly however and for me they were quite problematic until I replaced the included motor with a cheapie Walkera Inrunner I had laying around.

Yes you can white glue the plane together many times. An equal number of times you are stuck buying replacement parts.... which can over time cost you more than a new plane.

If I were to do it all over again, I would have never purchased the RTF version of the Typhoon and I would have stuck to the Receiver Ready version instead.

It is a very poor beginners plane, and beginners will tend to drive it nose first into the ground causing a lot of damage... I've seen them arrive at our field with this plane, which never makes it home in the hands of a novice.

Keep it, and put it away. Save it for later.

Get yourself a trainer and start with that.

I couldn't agree more. I bought this as my third plane and still wiped it out a number of times, replacing parts including the fuselage. It is a blast to fly but it's wild as can be when you're used to a trainer, never mind for a beginner. I don't think they make enough Expo for a beginner to fly this one.

Only if your willing to buy it about 6 times over in replacement parts.
