RE: two questions??????
I would look at other factors than the stabilizer. If the plane was something other than a trainer I would say that the stabilizer alignment a problem. Given that you are not doing precision aerobatics I'd leave it alone as you are likely to do more damage trying to fix it. The amount of misalignment aht you show in the pictures is not going to cause the behavior that you describe. I'd start by sending in your reciever.

RE: two questions??????
Is sending in the rx a free service? Where do I get the info to send it? And has anyone had any bad experiences doing this(like not getting it back for six months or a company losing it)? Thanks
|
RE: two questions??????
Since you didn't mention what brand of radio you have (if you did mention I apologize that I missed it) I can't point you to the manufacturers repair center. That would be the best best for repairs. You can also send it in to Radio South (regardless of what brand it is). They are very reputable and do fantastic work. Here is there info: www.radiosouthrc.com Radio South 139 Altama Connector, #322 Brunswick, GA 31525 (PH 800-962-7802) (operated by Tony Stillman) Radio South 6847 N. 9th Ave., Suite A #320 Pensacola, FL 32504 (PH 850-426-0820)(operated by Ben Pham) No, having a receiver checked is not a free service. Prices depend on where you send it, as well as the extent of work done to the receiver. How long it takes depends on where it goes, how far behind they are, and what needs to be done to it. All of the receivers I've ever sent in (usually Airtronics) have been back to me within a couple of weeks. Is it worth sending it in?? That's up to you to decide. What's your plane worth?? I NEVER fly a receiver after it's been crashed until it's sent in for service. It's just too easy for a receiver to get damaged in a crash, and putting it into another plane without having it checked is a great way to see another plane crash. Hope this helps Ken
|
RE: two questions??????
RCKen, thanks for the info. I thought somewhere in there I mentioned it was futaba but who knows. You say you've sent in rx's before, what should I expect pricewise? Just wondering. Thanks
|
RE: two questions??????
Here is the specific info for Futaba - http://www.futaba-rc.com/service.html
You can find all the shipping and contact info on their website. I've never had to send in a Futaba receiver, so I can't comment directly on them. But I can tell you about my experiences with Airtronics. I've never had to pay over $30 to repair a receiver. Airtronics is very good and if the repairs cost more than the receiver is worth they'll usually send you a new receiver at a discounted price. I've heard nothing but good about Futaba's service center, so I would expect you should see similar service. Ken |
RE: two questions??????
That plane should fly almost perfect with that little misalignment.. you should barely notice it... it especially wouldn't have been flying fine then go crazy like you said it did.... deffianatly in RX problem in my eyes

RE: two questions??????
The stab on my Hobbico Superstar(which is almost the same plane) is farther off than yours and I never had any problems except that it trys to corkskrew on really tight loops but it is hardly noticeable. And my Ultra Stick is worse than that too and not one prob.
Did you do a range check after it happened? |
RE: two questions??????
yeah we range checked it with the antenna all the way down.
|
RE: two questions??????
Are all the servoes plugged in tight? I've had the throttle on a foamy act weird because it wasn't plugged in good.
|
RE: two questions??????
yep checked those too.
|
RE: two questions??????
could have been interference from another person momentarily turning on their transmitter? or since you did repairs to the tail have you any metal to metal contact anywhere on your aircraft? both will cause loss of control.

RE: two questions??????
I'd check your servos, you may have broken some gear teeth off in your elevator and/or aileron servo (s). This may not show up on the ground but may when flight loads are applied.
