Motor Pulsing
Hi Ihave a P-51micro mustang from Parkzone. It used to work fine for up to 10 min.Now it starts pulsing the motor at 10 seconds of full throttle and stops the motor at around 1 minute. At half throttle it last 3min 30 sec untill pulsing starts but last over 6min with out stopping the motor. The batteries im using are brand new and fully charged hobbycity flightmax 138Mah.What would make my poor little plane do this? Is the ESCbroken? Is the motor bad? Please help! :D

RE: Motor Pulsing
I have had that happen and had a bad joint (conector held on with heat shrink only and a dry soldered joint) between the ESC and motor.

RE: Motor Pulsing
So i should cut open the joints between the ESC and motor Iguess.Sort of scary as ive never done it in my life.I do have a soldering gun so i can attempt to fix it .This is going to be scary..Any tips for me on what to look for and how to fix it if i find it?

RE: Motor Pulsing
if you know somebody who has a volt meter and knows how to use it, have them check your connection, can save a lot of heartaches

RE: Motor Pulsing
A pulsing motor in a electric plane is usually a safety protection built into the electronic speed control...when the voltage gets too low, it goes into "safety mode" it reduces the power to the motor to conserve energy for you to come into land....

ORIGINAL: MetallicaJunkie A pulsing motor in a electric plane is usually a safety protection built into the electronic speed control...when the voltage gets too low, it goes into ''safety mode'' it reduces the power to the motor to conserve energy for you to come into land.... wires arnt soldered well the esc is being overloaded and going into failsafe to prevent being fried |
RE: Motor Pulsing
Give some more details please. Did the plane crash before it started? If the motor is damaged it may cause the esc to go into protection mode. Are your batteries in good health? Did you change props or some such?

RE: Motor Pulsing
It has had some small grass crashes nothing that really hurt it much. But it is possible. This plane is very tuff and crashing it in the grass going 10 Mph shouldnt do much i would think. The batteries are brand new and the exact same thing happens with the stock battery. Its the stock Prop also,no mods have been this to this plane at all.I still havent cut it open because i know little about this stuff as im still new to the hobby.I need to hook up with one of the old schoolers at the park this weekend and see if he has a voltmeter to help out.I hate waiting days and days to see someone who may not even know what the problem is.I hope that if the esc or the motor is broke that they are cheep and easy to replace.I will buy the replacement stuff from Hobbycity if i have too as thats the cheepest place i know of so far.
