I'm going through withdrawals
The sensor for the up elevator trim tab quit working. So I had to get it fixed. I didnt want to fly a new plane with a radio in which a can't give it up trim. I have not flown in nearly a month( seems like a year):(. I went to the field today and watched. One of the guys offered to let my fly one of his trainers( my old trainer that I crashed and let him have to train other people). Man it felt good to get some stick time.[8D] It did feel weird, flying a plane that was slow. I can't even get on the sim because my radio is the radio I use on the sim:eek:. I'm thinking on just upgrading and when I get my tx back, it will just be a back up or a buddy box. If this hobby is an addiction then I'm going through withdrawals.:D

RE: I'm going through withdrawals
You and me both! I sold some stuff to fund a new project, which included selling my radio and receivers. I thought the season was done but it got warm again, and I'm going nuts looking at stuff on the wall and trying to find things to work on. Hopefully I'll feel better when I get my new plane next week:D

RE: I'm going through withdrawals
A few years ago when they came out with affordable computer radios that supported multiple model memory, I saw may people get rid of all of their transmitters and replace it with one "Really Good" one.
I can't tell you how many of these people sat on the sidelines for a few weeks because their ONLY transmitter was in the shop. These same guys would laugh at me for bringing 3 planes and 3 transmitters to the field. It was nice to get the last laugh :D The moral here is: You should always have a back up! |

RE: I'm going through withdrawals
i have a solution to your problem, buy mutiple gallons of nitro, go buy that compy radio you always wanted, spend the whole weekend at the flying field and make sure you burn all the nitro. that usually solves it however side effects such as an empty wallet can occur. :D:D

RE: I'm going through withdrawals
I am like Minn, I have 2 each 2.4 transmitters and I still have a couple of transmitters on 72. Not going to allow a faulty transmitter stop me from flying... Dave

It sounds like the VII is working well for it's new owner, and that makes me happy =) Really a great plane - docile yet very capable. I think a backup radio sounds like a good idea. Airtronics is making it pretty easy with an 8ch selling for $150. It's just not high enough on the priority list with the new project in action. |
