Okay i was talking to a guy and i won't say any names but he pm'ed me this.



"cOne WARNING on the ARF however: I would not buy it. Go with the kit, as it is structurally beter. Yes, there design is different. The ARF is not just "an already build kit"; it's design is different:

The wing is mounted in the middle of the fuse, and in the kit version the wing is glued (yes, it's a non-removable wing) to both the top and bottom part of the fuselage. Now, the top and bottom part of the fuselage is only about 1/2 inch width at widthest part of the wing. In the kit, there is a top and bottom fuselage balsa doubler, in between I have sandwiched some fiberglass.

In the ARF however, the bottom part has been cut lose from the fuse, making it a bolt-on bolt. The wing is glued only to the top half of the fuse, and I've hear that even there's no doubler. Making it really really WEAK. I've heard from several that have the ARF, the is just broke of during normal landing, or even in plane mid-air during flight.

So if you like to build, go with the kit. It's a lot stronger by design, and you can easy add some fiberglass at the weakest points to make it even better. If you go with the ARF, just take apart take bolt-on bellypan, reinforce the upper fuse part with a ply doubler, do the same in the bottom side, and get rid off that bolt-on thing that doesn't add any strength.. use epoxy to glue it on the bottom wing & fuse sides."



So after reading his advice and i have changed my mine on the dazzler. These are the planes i am looking at. big stick 40 Diffrent kind of big stick Easy Sport .

Actually just give me all your suggestions on a plane,engine,radio etc. Its really hard too pick things in the r/c market.

The Dazzler ARF is a good airplane except for that shelf-paper covering... It's not the best second airplane though. Is this your second?

Try the search function and looking around in this forum. I'll bet there are thousands of posts on this same subject...

The Fourstar, any of the "Sticks", Easy Sport, and plans like that are all great choices. The Fourstar is my favorite...You want to build?

Every plane I have is an ARF. Personally, I would not want to build and do not have a problem buying a ARF. A quick search here about a specific plane will ease your mind or make you look elsewhere.

I do not own, but I've seen a few fly, the Fourstars. I really like those. Actually wish I had one as a matter of fact.

Are you set on a .40? The 60 size big stik kit and the .60 size Super Sportster fly way better than their 40 size counter parts. All of them are great, but the .60 size has more stability and I have a lot more fun with them. I prefer a built kit, and the stik is a fun plane. Build the wing flat, with no dihedral. It will not have any adverse affect at all. I can still fly mine as slow as anyone can with dihedral, but it rolls better and is a lot more fun to fly. I have a friend that will not listen to anyone and put dihedral in it, and now he wishes he wouldn't have.

Good luck. Build any you want, for next week you will want a different one. Build that one too.

...........both DBCherry, and FLYBOY concerning the Super Sportster. It's design has been around a long time and she'll fly as slow or as hot as you want. I have the fourty size, and love it, but, I'll probably build the sixty size as well. ;)

Are you sure the super sportster is a good 2nd plane. Seems kinda intimidating. With the low wing and all.

............Keep the throws low and the speed down and she's a very docile plane. As your skills develop, dial in more throw and WOT. You'll like it!

Thx Ed sounds like a good idea. I'll ask my instructor what he thinks. I like the Super sportster because it has a canopy unlick the super stick or ultra stick.
