My brother is getting into planes and hes lookin around for one. We will be flying them only at the park so a park flyer. Hes looking into the Hobbico Sky Screamer. Is this a good solid beginner plane? Its pretty cheap and my experience with cars is speed buys quality. What other plaes would you suggest. He needs it to be uner $75 cause hes on limited budget.

Anything you can buy for under a couple of hundred bucks is more of a "toy" plane than a true RC plane.
But if the budget is that limited there's not much I can suggest. If you had $150 I'd suggest something like an Aerobird or a Firebird. These still aren't as good as a 40 size trainer but.... Good luck, Dennis- |

So do you think he should just save his money for a loooooong time and get the aero or firebird. Or should he just go with the beginner and be happy for the time being?

Assuming you are talking about hobby zone's firebird outlaw, or aerobird. The firebird should only cost you about $50.00 or so, RTF with everything included. The aerobird, about $120.00 or so. With 75 bucks he should be able to get the firebird, and an extra battery, shipping included if he buys it online.
I just got into rc flying, and I have a firebird. You will be able to fly it in the park, and it is definitly a lot of fun for a very first plane. However, like the post above, once flying it, you will probably want to move onto something bigger and better pretty quick. Again, being on such a limited budget of only $75, it doesn't sound like thats possible. All I can say is you will definitly have fun with it. Just make sure you take it out on a nice calm day for the easiest flying. |

The aerobird/fighterbird etc ARE beginer type toys for people on limited budget, i cant imagine anything cheaper than them and still actualy flying and being RC

I bought a fighterbird a few weeks ago, it is about the same plane as the firebird except it comes with the combat module. It will definatly fly. I have since purchased a Hobbico Avistar to try my thumbs out on a fuel powered plane. I can't really comment much since I am a newbie myself. In any event, have fun and good luck :)
