RE: Thundertiger Engines
I've got one of their 42 2-strokes. It's been a great little motor. I have no complaints.
Cheers! BH |
RE: Thundertiger Engines
I really like them. Great success with a GP42 and a Pro46.

One of my first planes was a Miss Martha, with a GP42 in it. Awesome little engine....wish I had not sold it.

I have had TT .46 Pro's out run equivlent .46 OS's (and I love OS's) I have a well used TT .61 Pro I currently run the snot out of on a full length Mac's tuned pipe turning an APC 10x8 at 15,000 RPM static (on the ground, they spin higher when unloaded in the air). So, I have no qualms recomending their engines. |
RE: Thundertiger Engines
Did you see my GP42 on the pipe? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ngue_smile.gif Runs great.

RE: Thundertiger Engines
Yeah, just don't do what I did to one of mine. I did a crockpot cleaning of one of mine that I disassembled and cooked it too long. Took the plating off the piston. It was cooked alright. But I did get a lot of good use out of it on an Avistar. Definitely would buy another.

RE: Thundertiger Engines
If I could only fly one brand of engine, I'd fly Thunder Tiger.
I do joke that I like to use Enya engines for situations where Thunder Tigers just aren't pricey enough... |

Now get 'em while you can. Hobbico is the new TT distributor. The TT Pro .40 jumped from 89.99 to $149.99 for a week on the Tower website. Then it came back to 99.99 on the web. The latest Tower Talk still has the 89.99 price tag with "prices good to Oct. 31." However via telephone they will not honor the 89.99 and would not discuss the sudden jump to $149.99 then back to 99.99. I ordered a couple more at 99.99 since they are so easy to operate. I will never ever pay OS prices for .40 range engines. There are far too many options. [sm=devious.gif] |
RE: Thundertiger Engines
Idont know what to think , they take over then jack up the price? Hope the quality of the engines doesnt start to suffer.
|
RE: Thundertiger Engines
They have a nasty habbit of taking a line over, jacking up the price, then discontinuing 2/3 of the line, then loosing interest and dropping it after they have just about put the manufacturer out of business by killing distribution. Remember how many kit manufacturers we used to have before they started getting bought up?

RE: Thundertiger Engines
Ihave more engines than airframes. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ssed_smile.gif
But you will be happy to know I installed a Thunder Tiger GP25 on my Kadet Jr just last night. Ihad an Irvine 25(totally sweet by the way) on it for break in and it is running outstandingly so now it will go on the shelf till Ibuild my Kobra. The TT25 is brand new and will get broke in and later slated for another airframe. |
RE: Thundertiger Engines
I don't like them even a little bit. For cheap two strokes I went with the SK line sold through Kangke- Super Craft, I like thes engines better then OS two strokes but I have only used there .91s so I can't recommend there other sizes of engines.
