FM Radios?
I was just wondering... how many of you guys are still using FM radio systems? I'm still using my 7CAP and for what I can tell, as almost everyone at my club are getting 2.4, I can enjoy the interference free benefit as well... what do you guys say?

RE: FM Radios?
Almost nobody on my channels now. (Wasn't much problem before, though.) I figure I have enough 72MHz equipment to last into my dotage.
(awright, who said that? I am NOT there yet!) Dave Olson |
RE: FM Radios?
I have a 2.4 GHz 7C, a Spektrum DX7, and a 72 MHz 7C. In my area, I DO prefer the 2.4 GHz radios, but depending on what I'm flying, I still use my 72 MHZ.

RE: FM Radios?
Channel 46 checking in!
|
RE: FM Radios?
Here is how I see it... if your current 72MHz radio is meeting your needs then there is no reason to replace it unless you really just want to. Once you decide that it is time to upgrade to a radio with more capability then it makes sense to do 2.4GHz as well.

RE: FM Radios?
I still use Ch 43 and my wife still uses Ch 41. It works for me. [8D]
|
RE: FM Radios?
Channel 23 has suited me just fine!
|
RE: FM Radios?
I have one plane that is using channel 55 and the rest are on 2.4. Bob |
RE: FM Radios?
FM? Whats FM? Actually yes there are still people who use it but it seems 2.4GHz is starting to get a foot hold. I have heard people say that it might still be wise to get a modular FM that you can get a 2.4GHz module for, then you can have both. :D

RE: FM Radios?
ORIGINAL: Rodney [Kinda picky but most all radios used for RC are now FM, including the 2.4GHz units. There are very few AM units used anymore. well, when I say FM, I meant 72 Mhz, I realized my mistake when the post was already there :P |
RE: FM Radios?
Lessee, Hmm. 18,24,40,48. I think thats it.

RE: FM Radios?
Still using my hitec 72mhz on Ch 28 for my Glow Powered Big Stik 60. Though I did just get a DX6i to play around with some parkfliers. I couldn't resist the temptation of messing around with some BNF models.

RE: FM Radios?
Channel 13 here. I plan to stay with 72 mhz for as long as FCC says we can. Since you are outside the US, FCC regulations do not apply but there probably is a similar agency in every country.
I do not go to "events," and our club is small enough that we almost never have two people on the same channel. |

RE: FM Radios?
Bought a 2.4, wish I hadnt, but now it is dedicated to my lecky heli....everything else is on channel 41...Rog
|
RE: FM Radios?
I have both. The 2.4 is new and I havent used it yet. But I see no reason to get rid of my FM. It works as well as you could ask for. I bought the 2.4 for the 10 model memory.
|
RE: FM Radios?
we currently have about 25 members in the club and I'm the only one using 2.4, futaba and airtronics, everybody else is still using 72 with no plans to go to 2.4
|
RE: FM Radios?
Channels 31 and 56 checking in!
|
RE: FM Radios?
Unless you are a contest jock there is no hot need to go 2.4. Have fun and fly your 72 meg. stuff till you have a real itch...
or can justify the purchase to your own satisfaction. Good Luck and Happy Flying what ever you have ! |
RE: FM Radios?
I hav a few 6 ch and several 4 ch radios and oll on 72 fm , would cost me a mint to change and all work perfect and dont glitch and rebind just after plane or rc car hits the ground or wall- Seen it happin a lot of times with the new radios and Nope not for me yet
|
RE: FM Radios?
I only know of a very few (3-4) other people around here involved in RC, so why change from 72 MH?
bhady |
RE: FM Radios?

RE: FM Radios?
I have a synth on the back of my 9C. I also have 10 different RX crystals. I just change chanels as needed, which is rare anyway.

RE: FM Radios?
FM! I still use a couple AM radios. Nothing wrong with FM either.
