Suspend from ceiling?

Anybody have photos on ways to suspend your planes from the ceiling?? I have a standard drywall finished garage that I'd like to suspend my planes from the ceiling so that the wife doesn't complain about the planes in the house. I think in a magazine I saw a photo of someone using PVC plumbing pipe to build a hanger for under the wing, or some other similar material. If you have a photo or description of your solution to the hanging problem, please post your response....Thanks.

Thanks Brian, looks like a winner.
That's even easier than using PVC.

I do the same thing, but hanging by the wings (towards the tips).

Flintlock, I've used a rope loop around the fuselage, hung on a single large open hook screwed into a ceiling joist. Trouble is most garages are over 8 foot high and it starts to get dicey with bigger airplanes and small step stools.

Try these

The dark colored brackets screw into the joists, and the PVC hangs down (to your liking) so that you can just reach up and hang the plane.

And yes this is the Eureka company of the 50's and 60's that used to import those great controline models with spun cowls and scale landing gear. And NO he doesn't do kits any more.

Dennis...aren't your wings eventually going to look like this?

I just screw two "Eye Bolts" into the ceiling, then hang heavy-duty coat hangars on them. Slip the wings through the hangars, and voila!

Just don't do what a friend did, suspend it from the ceiling with the garage door closed.

My ceiling is kinda high in places, so it can be awkward to get up on top of a step ladder with some of the models...

For some of my smaller models I have just screwed hooks into the rafters and then used bungee cords (with protective foam) to hold the models in place.

For slighter bigger models that are awkward to get up high, I have used miniature pulleys and 1/4" rope to set up a system whereby I just put the model on the floor, put its harness around it, then haul on a rope that will hoist the model up to the ceiling.

I am going to install a pully arrangement to hang several planes from the ceiling. I will try to remember to post pictures of it when I get done.
