Bind N FLy & Transmitters

I have another newb question concerning bind and fly

We were looking into getting a transmitter with the bind and fly so we could get like a MCX to also use when inside and our Big Stick 60 that I am getting. I have noticed that all the bind and fly models out there state DSM2. The only trnasmitters that I can find with DSM2 is JR/Spectrum.

I thought that the Transmitter that I had years ago was an Airtronics so I looked them up and they have a 2.4 system that said it binds so I looked up Futaba and the Fass and Fasst systems both say they bind to receivers. I found a thread here that said that Transmitters are receiverspecific.

So question is for a first restart transmitter can I get the Airtronics transmitter to bind to a MCX or should I just get a Spectrum dx6?

Those products are a Horizon/JR only. You have to bind all 2.4 stuff but "Bind and Fly" is a trademark of Horizon.

"Bind N Fly" or "BNF" is a trademark used by Horizon Hobby, so any of the Bind N Fly products will only bind if you have a JR or Spektrum radio

Any 2.4 product is proprietary.

JR and Spektrum are one and the same and they work with the BNF stuff.

Futaba only works with Futaba, Hitec with Hitec etc.

Ok thanks the fact that they all said that they "Bind" made it confusing.

The word "Bind" means that the reciever is programed to memorize the GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) of the transmitter. The transmitter then sends out that ID code with every packet. When the reciever gets a packet, if the packet doesn't contain the ID of the transmitter it's "bound" to, then it drops or ignores the packet.

It's also mistakenly used intertchageably with the work "link or linking" which is the process of powering up a 2.4 system and the reciever scanning the band and locking on to the transmitter it's bound to.


Bind-N-Fly is a trademark or whatever of Horizon and as has been said, is made to work with Spektrum or JR 2.4 transmitters.
