RE: Flights per year....
Every year has been different for me, I have only had 5 or 6 flights this year so far. A lot of rain or windy weather has held me back. (That and work...)

RE: Flights per year....
Hi Lary et al,
It really helps to get the flights in when (A) you're retired and (B) weather wise you can fly all year round. When I was working it was a very different story. Cheers, Colin |

RE: Flights per year....
We just had a full week of perfect weather! I went to fly from early morning to late in the evening, Bet I put in a hundred flights that week alone some 10min. some just a couple min. I fly every chance I get, Most of it just a mile out from my house, and some at the local flying field!

RE: Flights per year....
1200 on my own planes. 200 on the trainer box. 200 trimming and flying other peoples. I have to get a real life I think.

RE: Flights per year....
In excess of 10 flights a day, 4 times a week, by 52 weeks, in excess of 2000 flights a year give or take for weather.
Cheers |

ORIGINAL: billd76 I'm lucky to get one a month!!!![>:] Work work work!! I'm just too dedicated. I need to work on that!! Fun is what goes by while we make plans for future flights. Work has no end, Bill; active and enjoyable life has. You need to make time for yourself and go flying; after each flying session, you will feel better and stronger to work.:) At least, it is as it works for me. |
RE: Flights per year....
I worked allot all my life, worked around the clock! Now I work some and play allot! I fly every chance I get! If I get one flight in I have a much better day, This hobby just has a way to make one's life better and more relaxed! Its a hobby like no other and I have done so many even raced full scale cars, But nothing is like building, tweeking and flying an RC aiplane! Yes I am a RC lifer!

RE: Flights per year....
I have a rule. If I'm not watching rain coming down, or taking out my fishing boat, why waste the morning doing anything else that I can put off until I'm back from the field? With gas prices as they are, it makes errands a combined trip for me, and they say that's a smart thing to do.

RE: Flights per year....
Id have to say an average of 100 or less :( weather and life always seem to get in the way, and here we only have 3-4 good months of dry weather so.
Figure 20 weekends a year, 3-6 flights a weekend 4.5x20= 90... |
RE: Flights per year....
That's a very hard question to answer, because I fly when ever my Higher Power gives me good weather. I'll have to guess and say about 65- 80 times a year. I average about 4-6 flights on a given Sunday, ( That's when I have my day off from work. )
I start flying in May and don't stop flying until the end of October... 4 weeks in a month, yea... my numbers are about right. Agh, my brain hurts! [&:] Pete |

Figure 20 weekends a year, 3-6 flights a weekend 4.5x20= 90... I am in OR too, in Salem, and I used to quit flying for the Winter too, but I don't anymore. Maybe global warming is here too, because I have flown every month of the year the last couple years. If the temp is above 40F and not raining and not blowing, it is good enough to go fly for us. Fortunately for us in Salem, we seem to have calm air compared to what I read here about many other places. It happens very frequently that we have light winds that are under 5 mph during every month. I would guess I fly more like 40 weekends a year, similar number of flight per weekend, but I also can fly weekdays since I am retired. My guess is more like (4.5x40)+(30x3)=270. That is a good ballpark figure for me. |
