EVO .46 engine ?
I have a evo .46 engine that is act a little funny I think im to rich on the L needle setting , the problem is that if i set at idle for over a min and try to go WOT it will bogg and slowly rev up till it cleans it self out than run fine at WOT, but than when I am at WOT and move the stick back to idle it slowly drops rpms till it get back to idle about 30 sec for WOT to Idle Any thoughts

RE: EVO .46 engine ?
Yes, you are too rich on the low speed needle valve. That's exactly the symptoms. Another check: While at idle pinch the fuel line totally closed. I bet the engine will continue to run for 5 seconds or more even with the fuel line pinched off.

Are you talking about an EVOLUTION .46?

Yes

RE: EVO .46 engine ?
The Evolution limiters often prevent you from leaning the needles to where they should be set.
Often the best setting is just past the limiter... UGH! That said, it is better to let the engine bog down a bit on the ground, as it does for you now until the engine is WELL worn in. In the air, the plane leans out, as the engine is under far less of a load when it speads up, as you give it throttle. The moving air "unloads" the prop. Until you have many flights on the plane, get into the habit of either running it up slowly once on the runway to prevent it from bogging down at take-off, or hold the plane and run up the engine to clear the carb of excess fuel, then take off. Removing the limiters is a good idea too. |
RE: EVO .46 engine ?
I did remove the limiters a while back I wreck the plane the engine was in, and it broke the remote H needle mount off, so now the engine is going into a new plane and just makeing sure eveything in tune before a put the cowl on

RE: EVO .46 engine ?
Is it Evolution .46 NX or . 46 NT or .45 PTS (Power Training System) ?\

RE: EVO .46 engine ?
I had the Evolution .46 NX and the earlier.46 NT. The last Evolution I bought was the .61NX. To keep it short and sweet, I battled with these engines constantly and I lost. So, I got rid of them and pulled the pistons out and made key chains out of them.
Matter in fact, my Evolution Engines work better as expensive key chains then reliable engines. But again that's just my negitive opinion and not fact. I haven't made any key chains out of my O.S. Engines. I guess it's because they are still doing what they were ment to do. :D Pete |
