best advice
The best advice I ever received from an instructor was after I had torn off a large portion of the bottom of my trainer after the landing gear had a rather heated argument with some tall weeds outside the runway. The weeds won. He told me to replace the bolts attaching the landing gear with nylon bolts. To this day I have replaced about 3 sets of nylon bolts with an approx. cost of .16 and not had to fix the plane once.
Just the other day I was flying on the salt flats(beach) and as I was landing I hit a small piece of driftwood and popped off the main gear but I was able to land perfectly, again a new set of nylon bolts... .16. sometimes the easiest advice is the best. |

I had to learn that the hard way. I ripped the landing gear off of my ultra stick when one of my wheels came off in flight. I tried to land on one wheel, but as soon as the gear without the wheel touched down into the grass, off came the gear along with the front quarter of my stick. No more metal bolts for me.
