Securing the micro Li-Po battery?!
Iapologizefor this basic question but does anybody have a suggestion for securing batteries to the ParkZone Micro Flyers? I received extra batteries (not e-Flite brand) and they do not come with the micro velcro that the e-Flite brand has. Standard velcro is to bulky and fray all over the place when I cut them to fit the micro Li-Po's! Ican not seem to find a "tiny" rubber band to fit the micro Ember2 or micro J3 Cub that will hold the battery. I didn't want to use clear tape as it seems to "pull" the paint off the foam on the Cub?! Any ideas for this rookie flyer?
Thanks Coconut ParkZone Slo-V ParkZone Micro Ember2 ParkZone Micro J3 Cub ParkZone Micro P-51 Mustang (in the mail as I type!) |

Haven't looked closely at the models you have, but if you need small rubber bands, check the orthadontics offfice.

Try using the Great Planes brand Velcro (I've used this with good results and minimal fraying, though it is still a bit bulky) or get Parkzone part # PKZ1039 (the Velcro tabs that come with the Parkzone micro aircraft) for $3.99.

You can find tiny rubber bands in Campbell's catalog at: http://www.campbellscustomkits.com/

There are velcro straps sold in home improvement stores. One side is hook, the other is fuzzy. They look sort of like wristwatch bands. They're excellent for strapping in LiPos. I'll see if I can find a picture online.
.... oh yeah, you attach them to the model "permanently" and they make it quite easy to position the battery without having to deal with positioning them. Also, you can use a very small patch of velcro on the batteries to mate with the band when it's strapped closed and the battery is held very securely. |

Thank you guys for all the suggestions! I'll be checking 'em all out to see what works the best. That velcro strap looks perfect. Iwas worried about weight but I don't think that would be an issue?!?
Thanks again for all the input, greatly appreciated!! Coconut |
