Specktrum Bind Plugs~What did you get?
 

I purchased a DX6i new, it came with the AR 6200 receiver.
I also bought a smaller receiver for a Slow Stick I built, the AR 6110.
Both the DX6i that came with the AR 6200 and the AR 6110 (that my manual does not even show)that I bought separately came with the same style bind plugs. I guess you call them the female plug as they don't have the pins.
But I note in my manual that came with the DX6I that it shows two types of bind plugs (apparently) on page 19 in the lower right hand corner of the page. It appears to have a female and a male hooked together.
Did anyone get the male plug when they bought their transmitter? Was I shorted or is it something you have to buy?

Yes, that is a male bind plug. It is used to connect directly in the reciever to bind it. You can get along without it though. All you need to do is use small piece of wire and connect pin 1 and 3 of the battery position on the reciever. This will place the receiver in bind mode.

Yes, I knew I could make one, but I was wondering ifboth the male and females were supposed to come with the transmitter new?

As far as I know they usually come with the radio. They may have simply forgot to put one in your radio. Give a call to Horizon tomorrow and I'm sure they'll get one for you.

Well I called them.
They said the manual was an old printing and to disregard the male plug that is shown as they don't supply it anymore.

when you buy the higher end receivers ar9000 and up they come with the fancy bind plugs, the ar6200s and 7000s i have purchased come with only male

But I bought the DX6i and the AR6200 as a package.
And the manual still showed both in it.
So be it.
I will just make a male.

This seems strange to me. It seems some are getting male some female. I have 12 - 2.4 rx some 6200 some 7000. I also have 2 DX7 tx. Therefore I have several bind plugs but mostly female. These are what I use most since they plug directly into Rx. Actually that's the only one needed.

Like the guy said on the phone, most people did not use the male version anyway. And some have found out the charge plugs are not wired right anyway according to him to use them there I guess.
No big deal either way.
He did said that he knew for a fact that at one time you got both. Just a way for them to save money. Of course if you want one you can buy the set, for a price. They do not sell the male by itself.
I just thought being it was shown in the manual in the pixthat maybe I got shorted.
Kinda like shorting me 2 lousy screws to mount the landing gear on my kit.And of courseI don't have any the right size so I have to chase 2 screws and flat washers. It's cost more in gas to go get them!

Charge switch binding works prefectly if you have a 3 wire switch from Spektrum or JR and its a heckuva lot easier than getting to the battery port on a reciever burried in a plane so those plugs come in handy. The other thing you can do is run a Y harness from the receiver batt/bind port to the battery, put a servo extension on one side where you can get to it and a battery on the other. That of course assumes all of your servo ports are occupied or you can just plug the battery into an open servo port and run a simple extension out to where you can get to it.
