ytou don't need the same rubber bands. just get some at office depot. those rubber bands are suppplied with it so you don't have to get them. there is no special tension or streachiness. i will bet the quality control on those things is so low that they wouldn't even know what the specs are. probably any rubber band that fits on will work.

The rubberbands that come with your plane are usually available from the hobby store. Or you can order them on-line from Horizon Hobby as well as almost anyone who carries the Firebird series.

I have an Aerobird. I prefer to use the rubberbands the are made for the plane. They are not the same as office depot, but if you are waiting for the new rubber bands to arrive, use the office depot type in the mean time.

edit: On the other hand, the rubber bands for the plane are fairly expensive for the number you get, so there is no problem trying other sources. Just make sure they feel similar in strength to the ones you are using. ;)

Just use 8 office rubber bands instead of 4 planes bands.

if your plane's bands are #64 (very common in this hobby) and you go to office depot and get a package of #64 rubber bands, they will have a very close streachiness and tension.
