rx crystal replace

have just replaced the crystal in my rx (jr 459x) because the original was I think damaged (had a part broken off) and i wasn't getting any movement with my transmitter. i noticed that when i initially charged the rx & tx batteries that the rx battery light on the charger goes out but no matter how long i leave the transmitter charging the light does not go out. Could this be a battery problem? (jr xp652 radio with 9.6v 600mha tx battery & 4.8v 600mha rx battery)
rx battery connected directly to rx

Are you using the provided JR "Wall Wart" charger?

If so the light NEVER goes out on it.

Instead you have to time the charge and disconnect the charger at the end of the charging interval.

So... you disconnect your battery from the Rx to charge it, plugging it directly into the charger? And the light goes out? Yes, that would describe a battery problem, or a problem with the battery lead.

Why would you plug the Rx battery directly to the receiver? If you forget to disconnect, the battery will be drained and probably not recover.

Good luck,

Objose - further to what I said before the light on the rx battery doesn't come on at all, but the Tx light doesn't go off. I'm thinking that I try replacing the rx battery and see what happens from there. The tx battery charges to approx 11.4 v so I'm hoping its just a dead rx battery. Thanks

Scar - initially when i first plugged the battery into thechargerthe light came on. Now when i plug it in the light doesn't come on at all. However the Tx light doesn't go out. I plug battery into receiver because I dont have a switch to go between the battery pack and the rx. I have in the past only connected the battery to rx when i go to the field . Any suggestions? I'm hoping it's just a dead rxbatterypack!

Suggestions:

1. Get a voltmeter, check for voltage at the battery lead. If it's zero, you have an open circuit.

2. Also check the voltage from the charger. It should be over 4.8 volts.

A voltmeter is a good thing to have, even a cheap one will work.

Your charger is on, any time it's plugged in. The lights that indicate it is charging do not go out. If the light is not on, the charger is not connected to a battery.

Good luck,
Dave Olson
