Hitec Eclipse radio??????

anyone have one, or experience with one. i am thinking about getting one because i want a computer radio, and i already have all hitec equip, and i like how it looks.

when you buy one do you have to pick the frequency, or is it like a Futaba 9C(i think that is the model) where you can pick what frequency from the TX itself??

The Eclipse is an excellent radio, and you can get many opinions on it by searching in here using 'Eclipse' as the search string.

If you have the Spectra module fitted (highly recommended) you can dial in any of the 72 meg band channels, to match the crystal in each receiver.

You get a lot for your money with the Eclipse, and it's unlikely you will 'grow out of it'.

brschmid,

I have an Eclipse 7 w/spetra mod. It is a ver good radio. It was a little intimidating at first (on programing), but after you get to know the radio it is fairly esy to operate. It has a 7 model memory. The Spetra mod comes out easily and you dial in the freq. you are using. You could have different planes on different freqs, but You have to change the settings when you change models. I keep all my models on the same freq and have an extra reciever crystal at a different freq in my flight box, just incase I wont to fly with someone on the same freq as me.

Excellent radio but be carefull ordering. Just as the Prism 7X prior to the Eclipse it is also sold with a single frequency module for a little less money. It would be a huge mistake to purchase one without the Spectra module, Your will find it a big advantage as you become more active.

This is a great radio, I've had mine for a few weeks now and I'm really starting to appreciate the things it can do. Programming it is very easy once you understand it, and it becomes second nature.

I your local hobby shop hasn't got them, try here:-

Don't forget you get a receiver, battery, switch harness and 4 ball bearing servos in the price.

Yes it does. Don't forget that the trim settings of each transmitter are used when you switch between them. That is, setting trims etc on one doesn't set them on both.

You can use it with any FM receiver, whether positive or negative shift as it can be set to work all FM receivers.

thanks, but i know that already, i started teaching my gF to fly today(i have 2 laser 4's). i only have like 2 weeks experience, but have almost outgrown my trainer so far. i can do pretty much all it can.

also, why should i get the servos and everything else?

That must be a record!

Inverted and upright snaps, flat spins, hammerheads, cuban eights, immelmans, inverted low passes, tailslides, rolling circles, falling leaf approaches, slow rolls, split S's etc?

I think you'll be surprised what a high wing trainer can do! I well remember handing my transmitter to the person who taught me, ages before, and being amazed at what he did with it!

I only mentioned the extras you get with the radio because the URL I put in my reply pointed to a page that offered all the kit as a package. You can get the transmitter separately too.

Good luck!

yep i'm with Dave guys at our club that can make planes dance still break out there trainer now and again, i dont think you ever "out grow" a trainer and i seriously doubt with 2 weeks experiance you can do all a trainer is capable of.

no, not quite everything, but i fly daily a do a little more everyday.

i haven't done:
inverted low passes
tailslides(it wont for some reason)
slow rolls(it wont do knife edge(it is a duraplane))
or flat spins, i don't have the guts for that.

Great radio though.

BTW, it's the Futaba 9Z (not C) that you choose your frequency on-screen.

THough the HiTec Spectra works happily in the Futaba 9C (and 8U).

Do use a Hitec trainer cord though. While a Futaba fits, it can cause problems by making both the slave and master transmit RF.

Not just any 9Z is sythesized only the 9ZAS WC-2 is and it list's for 1500 big ones.

The Spectra may work in a Futaba but is illegal.

Yeah, but it seems an awful waste of money to spend the difference between the 9C and the 9Z just to get a synthesizer and not all the rest of the facilities.

How much is the 9Z? Over a grand?
