Battery charging problem
I have been using a Digipace 3 for many years, but have never had a Tx pack over 700mAh. I just acquired my first 1100mAh pack, and just realized that the Digipace's charging rate for the Tx is only 70 ma., so will not completely charge the 1100mAh pack in 16 hrs. I have about 10 wall warts, which all charge at 75 ma, which is no better except that I can charge for as long as I want to. My question is, how many hours should I charge this 1100mAh pack (assuming it has been discharged to 1.1 v per cell) using a 75ma output wall wart. I am also open to any suggestions to any new generation chargers/cyclers that would charge the higher mAh packs. I do have a dedicated lipo charger. TIA for any responses.

RE: Battery charging problem
Charge the 1100 pack at 70 mA rate for 16 hours and you will be fine. (1100 / 70 = 16).

RE: Battery charging problem
I just bought a DuraTrax Intellipeak ICE charger. I like it better than the Triton JR or Accu-Cycle charges I have been using. Keeps my 2000 mAh flight packs topped off nicely (two hours or overnight or anywhere in between - set it as you wish) and will charge/discharge in multiple cycles if desired. Also graphs the results. $63 at a Tower Daily Sale as it had been "slightly used". Down side it it runs on 12VDC and you need a power supply if you want to use it at home . . . or use you car in the garage.
I am using only NiMH currently so I don't worry about burning the place down. ;) |
RE: Battery charging problem
Try investing in a piranha charger: They are fast and work with almost every battery

RE: Battery charging problem
You can get battery chargers that charge all kinds of batteries for less than 20-30 dollars. Are you still using nimh packs or did you already switch to Lipo?
