Servo Twitching

If a standard 4.8v battery is charged untill charger goes to trickle which is usually around 5.8v, can this cause servo twitching at the higher voltage?

Thanks, Glenn

RE: Servo Twitching

I'd say no...because most servos can run on a 6.0V power source...when fully charged would be 6.8 to 7.2 V......
If you have a glitching servo look at how close to the transmitter the receiver is if you're close.... back the transmitter away a few feet.....or if you have an extension remove or replace it.
If you're glitching servo is on a dual servo set up using a Y make sure both servo are the same......lastly look at your on/off switch

You can bypass the ON/OFF switch by connecting the battery directly to the receiver. I have corrected twitching many times by installing a new switch. Now I only use heavy duty switches with heavier wiring and gold contacts.

I have had this on Futaba gear usually on channel 1 with 4.8 packs and it goes away if you wiggle the sticks for a few seconds taking the surface charge off the pack.

But I do not understand why it happens because if I fit a 6 volt pack I get the same thing happening. ?????

Electronic gurus to the front please.

I see it all the time with a freshly charged batteries. Why?? I haven't a clue but as soon as the top charge is removed after the first flight they no longer twitch. I have some JR analogs that will do it every time.

I have it on several of my planes and skydivers - almost all the time its the radio to close to the receivers -dont ask me why - all the old timers swear its the servos ,so I just smile and have the plane flown anyway and all is good astrhe ol timers kibitz on when its gonna crash - been going on over 3 yeears so far and all planes flying - never a problen when radio over 3 ft from plane

Me , I would not worry about it and just keep radio a few ft away from plane when trimming and go fly and injoy
Don

PS- Im 72 but Im not in the old school class, mid young guns have a lot of knowledge also , new young guns ,heck they have no fear and do stuff thats not possable and it works,
