Model Airplane News has a nice S2B designed by Mark Sirianni. I haven't built his Pitts but I did build his Sukhoi and it was a very good design and not that hard of a build. The AMA also has a plans service to look at.

Um, Chuck11, you ARE an expert RC pilot, are you not?

If not, do not even THINK about flying a Pitts Biplane!

RE: Looking for plans

Every year Model Airplane News used to print up a listing of there plans and I have a couple of them I cut out. There address was WWW.RCSTORE.COM www.rcstore.com can't tell if it was in caps or not. Plan #FSP04742 they have a phone number here too if it's still correct or not? 800-537-5874 if not then just pick up a MAN and look in the back for any new information. This one is a 48 inch span and calls for a .60 engine. They also have the 61 inch FSP03951 for .90 to 1.20 so it's 1/4 scale. As Minn said, if you haven't got a lot of stick time there are better bipes to look at. If you haven't built a bipe before you need to find someone with a good incidence meter too. Mater of fact, if you plan on being a builder then the meter is used on any and all of your builds. The Pitts is a very advanced plane to build and fly but the smaller one looks like it isn't very hard to build, it's only one sheet for plans and the 1/4 scale is a three sheet set of plans.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ah, for youth and enthusiasm again. I miss that even more than testosterone. :)

One flight every two years between assembling itty bitty balsa chips will get old, guaranteed. When a Pitts crashes it is not an overnight with a bottle of CA.

Get a trainer and get an instructor.

The ankle bone connected to the . . . leg bone.

1) Expect it to break each time you fly it
2) Don't expect that it will be repairable after each crash.

What you are doing is the equivelant of learning to drive a car with an Indy Racer that has no breaks. A Pitts is NOT a forgiving airplane. I give your first flight about 10 seconds if you do well.

Click the link in my signature to find out more. Lots of good info there on starting out.

Nothing wrong with building a Pitts, while you earn your wings with the help of an instructor and a trainer type airplane.

There is a really good chance you will not be able to repair it after the first flight. You have to learn to crawl and walk before you can run, there is a process to learning how to fly these things, it is not hard to do but you need to follow the right steps to do it. Walking into a Pitts would not be your best approach.

Take this from a guy who had a Corsair haning up for 5 years before I dared to try to fly it. Listen to the advise you will get here it is generally pretty good.
