Telemaster Engine
 

I have a Senior Telemaster that flies perfect when the wind is no blowing. However, when I do fly with the little slight of wind it floats with the wind a lot. Like flying a kite. When I build it my hobby shop recommended that I use a 61 Tiger. My question is whether the 61 Tiger is big enough. If not what will be a good replacement.

Mine had an old OS .60 or .61 and it worked great. That was my favorite wind flying plane. The .61 should be OK for you in the wind. You may want to try testing some different size props instead of wondering about your engine, the .61 is the norm for the plane. Longer prop with a lower pitch will give more thrust.

Oddly enough, these large beauties fly with as small as a good .46 engine. They are not designed to fly fast or to fly as even a mild aerobatic plane. So, the best thing I can say is to learn to manage the throttle a bit better it and fly the thing. As Gene (Gray Beard) suggested, experiment with the prop a bit. They are one of the better trainers around.

You have to consider that this thing has a very large wing with a very large wing area and is fairly light. So, the wing loading really makes this thing float around quite a bit. That's the way it was designed, and it does that pretty well, wouldn't you say? ;)

Ok thanks for the good info, I think I'll look into another prop.
