Yep it's a biggie.. Isn't that the one that produces One Million something Horsepower? Pretty nuts and even more suprising was that it turns close to 1000RPM or so (recalling from a program about it on History Channnels Modern Marvels).

The motor in the first picture is a different motor from that shown in the rest. The first motor is a 12 Cylinder while the other pictures are of a 10 cylinder motor.

I am ever amazed at the inaccurate statistics and manipulated data given on Modern Marvels (for most of their programs). Biggest marvel I see on that show is that they do not employ a fact checker.

While the [link=http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/1354]motor in the first pic is from the maker of the most powerful motor[/link] (108000hp - a sight lower than the 1 Million Hp mentioned earlier) I also believe this info is dated and a new motor putting out 140 000+hp is now available.

More [link=http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=163&Item id=58]info on the 14cylinder version here that went into service 9/12/06.[/link] Also rated at 100+RPM (a little lower than the 1000 also mentioned earlier) ;)

The motors run on thick crude oil saves on the refining costs the ship dosent have a gearbox either its direct drive no clutch nothing!with the engine off and its massive prop not turning this thing takes two miles to stop i think it is made by hyundai

Well it's nice to know I can't trust a program on a supposed "history" channel to be factual... That really ERKS ME!

Thanks for the real scoop JAWs :)

Sorry, I had to move this because it's not R/C-related so instead of tossing it, I moved it here and left a link in the gas boat forum.
