Default J-3 cub

I have an older J-3 cub with a brushed motor. I beleive it is a parkzone. I've had this plane for about 4 years. It came with a 6 cell ni-mh battery. Lately it seems to be slowing down. I used a 3 cell lipo battery and that makes it run better. In the past couple of weeks it seems to be getting slower even with the lipo. Is there maintenance that should be performed on the motor or do they just gradually quit? Thanks for your help.</p>

Four years out of the original brush motor, you did very well. The switch to a 3S lipo will only hasten the end of the motors life. For practical purposes maintenance is not an option, simply replace the worn out motor with a new one, or upgrade to brushless.
Good luck,
